Historia
With a cast of characters that wouldnt be out of place in a Victorian novel, Chocolate Wars tells the story of the great chocolatier dynasties, through the prism of the Cadburys. Chocolate was consumed unrefined and unprocessed as a rather bitter, fatty drink for the wealthy elite until the late 19th century, when the Swiss discovered a way to blend it with milk and unleashed a product that would conquer every market in the world.

Great book..... well worth it! Really well done
Revisado: 09-13-11
This is a fabulous book and well worth the listen to.... did not want it to end. Deborah Cadbury does a great job on the history of her family from the first days of experimenting with cocoa and then chocolate production and brings it right through to the modern day until they were bouht out by Nestle (the bad guys.!) This book has elements of history, science, technology, business, marketing, and religious history (Quaker history) all very well woven together. It really shows how the ethics in business nowadays has gone downhill and bows only to the bottom line in profits and does not take into account workers at all. Deborah Cadbury does a grea job in narration, I don't always like a woman narrating but the softness of her voice and the English accent is not too pronounced (excuse the pun). This is the best book I have read (you know what I mean) in a long time and I would highly recommend it to any ex-pat like myself as we have grown up with the brands she discusses with their history and development. There is even significant discussion of the development of the American chocolate market of Hershey's and Mars so very, very pertinent. Super Work!

Great book
Revisado: 09-13-11
If you are at all interested in STarbucks come back to its previous position then this is great as it tells in good detail how HS did it and how he really relies on his workers to be part of the team. I thought that there might be a bit more more of Starbucks history but I guess that is in another book. REally enjoyed it.

Historia
The author of 12 acclaimed books, Robert B. Reich is a Chancellor’s Professor of Public Policy at the University of California, Berkeley, and has served in three national administrations. While many blamed Wall Street for the financial meltdown, Aftershock points a finger at a national economy in which wealth is increasingly concentrated at the top - and where a grasping middle class simply does not have the resources to remain viable.

Robert Reich knows what he is talking about and makes a lot of sense. This is a short book, but well worth listening to. IT is not really a story just like a long paper; but good!

Great WWII Thriller

Really enjoyed this book, great for a long car ride. We often put in audio tapers for our 5 hr. drive to DC and this one was certainly worth it. Suspenful and also recent history of WWII. Would definitely recommend this book.

Great book for a layman to understand
Revisado: 12-12-10
Loved this book, was well written and really suspsenseful as you lived through the ongoing crises with them. Financial terms explained so a layman could understand and this book is unbaised and does not go about bashing people to lay blame but simply states the facts of what happened. Overall the book is very readable and considering the subject matter, finance, is really engaging as they lurch from one crisis to the next one. Highly recommend!

Henry’s gems: "The Cop and the Anthem" and "The Last Leaf", in this holiday collection.

Thanks for the gift. It is so nice to recieve something rather than have retail people always trying to get something out of you. I am saving it to listen to with my husband as we drive to our daughter's place for Xmas. Thanks so much and Happy Holidays.
