Historia
Without John C. Houbolt, a mid-level engineer at NASA, Apollo 11 would never have made it to the moon. Top NASA engineers on the project, including Werner Von Braun, strongly advocated for a single, huge spacecraft to travel to the moon, land, and return to Earth. It's the scenario used in 1950s cartoons and horror movies about traveling to outer space. Houbolt had another idea: Lunar Orbit Rendezvous. LOR would link two spacecraft in orbit while the crafts were travelling at 3,600 miles an hour around the moon. His plan was ridiculed and considered unthinkable.

This is a great story covering a small, but incredibly important part of space history.

Historia
Twenty years ago, it was as if someone turned on a light. The future blazed into existence with each deliberate word that William Gibson laid down. The winner of Hugo, Nebula, and Philip K. Dick Awards, Neuromancer didn't just explode onto the science fiction scene - it permeated into the collective consciousness, culture, science, and technology.Today, there is only one science fiction masterpiece to thank for the term "cyberpunk," for easing the way into the information age and Internet society.

I don't understand the negative comments
Revisado: 01-15-19
I don't understand the negative comments on the performance of this book. The reader does an excellent job with reading the book in an interesting way without having a performance change or alter my own experience of the story. I thought this book was great.

had a great premise
Revisado: 07-23-18
This story started out with a great premise and striking visual descriptions. Had some honest moments of real suspense. Eventually the story became repetitive and didn't seem to follow any logic. The ending seemed to happen out of nowhere, and closed it's remaining plot points seemingly at random.

I don't know how Steve King liked these books
Revisado: 11-16-17
This trilogy I found to be well worded but poorly executed story that is a mash up of HP Lovecraft and Arthur C Clark. It was difficult to enjoy any character and the overall story felt as if it was happhazardly thrown together. The ending is completely unsatisfying and I found my self thinking what was the point of these books.

Historia
When a class war erupts inside a luxurious apartment block, modern elevators become violent battlegrounds, and cocktail parties degenerate into marauding attacks on "enemy" floors. In this visionary tale, human society slips into violent reverse as once-peaceful residents, driven by primal urges, re-create a world ruled by the laws of the jungle.

good marketing, but disappointing
Revisado: 02-25-16
So I bought this book after seeing the movie trailer. The trailer had a very interesting class struggle leading to war type of story. Thinking that this would be a fresh new way to look at this type of plot I wanted to go through the book before the movie comes out. Sadly the book was very disappointing. What is given in the book starts out as a class struggle, and then quickly degrades into a Lord of the Flies type of arc that is ridiculous. Regular, wealthy people abandoning standard of living, hygiene, and good sense for nothing. Why anyone would stay in a building that has no food, water, electricity, and is full of attacking clans is beyond me. Instead of calling management, the city, or even the police, the inhabitants of the high rise develop this weird fascination for living in disgusting, reeking, starving, and murderous conditions within a micro society within the high-rise. Then after seeing the fall of the people inside the high-rise, the book just ends. As if the writer decided that he ran out of profane things for his characters to do and without any real direction to take the story, just stopped and published the book.

Historia
This is the way the world ends: with a nanosecond of computer error in a Defense Department laboratory and a million casual contacts that form the links in a chain letter of death. And here is the bleak new world of the day after: a world stripped of its institutions and emptied of 99 percent of its people. A world in which a handful of panicky survivors choose sides - or are chosen.

it takes a little while for this book to get movin
Revisado: 02-10-16
it takes a little while for this book to get moving along, but once it does it is so engrossing that it's length is never noticed. the ending is satisfying but it leaves enough open for discussion with friends.
