Historia
For Milo, everything’s a bore. When a tollbooth mysteriously appears in his room, he drives through only because he’s got nothing better to do. But on the other side, things seem different. Milo visits the Island of Conclusions (you get there by jumping), learns about time from a ticking watchdog named Tock, and even embarks on a quest to rescue Rhyme and Reason. Somewhere along the way, Milo realizes something astonishing. Life is far from dull. In fact, it’s exciting beyond his wildest dreams.

my favorite book
Revisado: 03-17-25
I have loved this book since i was a small child. It can be a difficult book for audio because of all the written puns but this version did a pretty good job. The interview with the author was a treat - a genius.

Historia
Liesl lives in a tiny attic bedroom, locked away by her cruel stepmother. Her only friends are the shadows and the mice - until one night a ghost appears from the darkness. It is Po, who comes from the Other Side. Both Liesl and Po are lonely, but together they are less alone. That same night, an alchemist's apprentice, Will, bungles an important delivery. He accidentally switches a box containing the most powerful magic in the world with one containing something decidedly less remarkable. Will's mistake has tremendous consequences for Liesl and Po....

Historia
Nobody Owens, known to his friends as Bod, is a normal boy. He would be completely normal if he didn't live in a sprawling graveyard, being raised and educated by ghosts, with a solitary guardian who belongs to neither the world of the living nor of the dead. There are dangers and adventures in the graveyard for a boy. But if Bod leaves the graveyard, then he will come under attack from the man Jack - who has already killed Bod's family…

Prefer Gaiman's narration
Revisado: 12-31-17
This book wasn’t for you, but who do you think might enjoy it more?
The story is great, but I prefer Neil Gaiman's narration. I like full cast audio and may have liked this version more if I hadn't heard Neil's narration first. He is such a good narrator.
Who was your favorite character and why?
The ghost witch, Liza, because of her strong woman's character and how she helps her friend, Bod.
What aspect of the narrators’s performance would you have changed?
The main narrator (non character) seemed a bit slow and didn't have much emotional inflection - but again, I really liked Neil Gaiman's narration and am quite biased to his flow and emotional inflections.
What reaction did this book spark in you? Anger, sadness, disappointment?
Curiosity in how ghosts "live" over time.
Any additional comments?
Again, I want to emphasis that I'm not saying this is a bad narration for a great book, BUT I really prefer Neil Gaiman's narration of his story. If I had heard this version first, I may have liked it more (like reading the book before seeing the movie, and vice versa - one tends to spoil the enjoyment of the other). All I can say, if you have the opportunity to hear Neil Gaiman read his works - GO FOR IT.

Great kids adventure
Revisado: 12-29-17
If you could sum up Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy in three words, what would they be?
magical exciting adventure
Who was your favorite character and why?
Ophelia, of course - she's the heroine
Which character – as performed by Jayne Entwistle – was your favorite?
Jayne did all the characters very well (one of the reasons the story is so good).
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
All the times Ophelia pushed past her fears to do what was right.
Any additional comments?
Jayne Entwistle is a great narrator, always making her characters come alive. In this book especially, she makes you root for the children (Ophelia and the Marvelous Boy) during their adventures.
