When a book leaves you with your mouth open, that’s a good book! Banks & Mason has me all in with there friendship! I found myself yelling at the book at times! The ending has me speechless! It’s a must read!!

There were interesting characters. A solid plot, believable conflict and enough drama to keep you interested. The narration for the male characters were or the Hispanic characters with not great at all but overall the narrator did a decent job.

I'm from Houston so I was looking for more references to the city but overall the story was good. I knew Keraun was going to be grimey. The girls out there in the world just trying to make it, I totally get that. I really liked Aunt Lisa, she was a baddddd chic. The blast from the past ending made me smile.

Loved it! The absolute nerve of Hassan, left me with my hands in the air. I kept screaming at Destiny....leave girl leave. He is not worth it. Imani was plenty of women I know sadly. I can hardly wait for book 2. AWESOME Read!

This was an enjoyable listen as far as content. The narrator did a good job. So good that I detested when Keyshia or anyone from the South had to speak. The deep country, broken english that was categorized as Geechee was tough to listen too. The author did a good job of giving the reader insight into the lives of the young couple and their pasts. There was one suprise twist in the last half of the book and alot of devasting developments in their young lives. This was a well-written story. I listened to it over the course of 3 days. My only other issue was I couldn't tell the timeframe that the story took place.

Missed potential -

It started off pretty good. Jules had an interesting background and her chance meeting with Rome was a good setup. However, the quick disposal of her enemies left little room for anything of interest. The story kind of lost its way toward the end.

In the last chapter, the characters finally showed they learned from their mistakes. Well, I'm not sure about Evelyn even after her "vacation" since the book ended upon her return.

The three "frenemies" were not likeable throughout the entire series. Cedric, while despicable, remained true to himself as did Keith & Jacoby. I didn't think the story was worth stretching to 3 books, but I get it. All in all the author kept the same formula for all three books-drama, betrayal, misunderstandings confusion and abuse to make a decent listen. The narrator did a good job throughout.

It would be nice to know what made this friendship between the frenemies so strong. They speak to each other with venom in one breath and the next they are calling each other besties…The relationship made no sense. What tied these women to each other? Especially, when one is so envious AND devious. At this point, I don’t feel sorry for Kayla or Trina for constantly forgiving and remaining friends with Evelyn. They are getting what they asked for in this loose “friendship.”

Kayla- the “conversations” she kept wanting to have with Evelyn grew old after the first one. She was still just as pathetic as book 1. Hopefully, the character will show some growth soon.

Trina-remains uninteresting and attempting to create her own drama - Why hasn’t she told Keith the why behind why she doesn’t trust Evelyn? She finally showed some sense with the gun incident at Keith’s and then quickly lost it. Her being so gullible can only lead to more drama in her life.
her guilt trip she laid on kayla about their friendship was ridiculous.

Cedric –direct and unapologetic, other than $ and his “night stick” what made him appealing enough to put up with STD’s , numerous mistresses, a baby and his disrespectful mouth & attitude.

Evelyn- Remains unchanged in her trifling ways. She hadn’t learned any lessons after being on the outs with literally everyone she knew. Her narcissistic behavior is on the verge of delusional. It was nice to see her get a little of what she did from one of her “playthings”. two beat downs wasn’t enough to teach her a lesson unfortunately. I felt no sympathy for her

The Jacoby confession & Bryson twist was a nice turn.

narration- there were a few mispronounced words and names. overall. she did a good job.

story- the story moved at a moderate pace. the author delivered on what she promised. there was betrayal, lust and drama. however, the drama on a couple of storylines felt forced. the rage and disgust , while really happens in the world, seemed almost over the top at trina's revelations. Evelyn's explanation as to why she betrayed her "bff", was somewhere between ridiculous and disingenuous.

throughout this book, i kept thinking "what am i missing?" jewel kept referring to all that touch put her thru. but, the reader was never privy to it. as a reader, you need to see it not just hear it. this story was poorly executed. and of course there's another cliffhanger.
