Historia
Set in a not-too-distant America, I Cheerfully Refuse is the tale of a bereaved and pursued musician embarking under sail on a sentient Lake Superior in search of his departed, deeply beloved, bookselling wife. Rainy, an endearing bear of an Orphean narrator, seeks refuge in the harbors, fogs, and remote islands of the inland sea. Encountering lunatic storms and rising corpses from the warming depths, Rainy finds on land an increasingly desperate and illiterate people, a malignant billionaire ruling class, crumbled infrastructure, and a lawless society.

I’m halfway through and can’t make myself finish it. He just wanders from one depressing place to another. I wish him well but I won’t go with him.

When Charlie is seventeen, he meets a dog named Radar and her aging master, Howard Bowditch, a recluse in a big house at the top of a big hill, with a locked shed in the backyard. Love her story but doubt some of its accuracy
Revisado: 12-03-18
Michelle Obama creates a vision of a perfect family--wonderful parents, loving brother, totally dedicated to achievement. Maybe. She speaks of her mother's constant attention to grammar and speaking properly. So why is her grammar so bad? Didn't the editor realize that "Me and Barack" is not proper. Often has a silent "t". I find it a bit annoying. However, the content is interesting and somewhat inspiring (even though I don't believe it all). Good job Michelle. Watch your grammar.

No
Any additional comments?
This book did nothing for me. If you like romance novels where the heroine is constantly mooning over the wrong guy--then enjoy. Otherwise, find something more compelling to read.

Historia
An historic literary event: the publication of a newly discovered novel, the earliest known work from Harper Lee, the beloved, best-selling author of the Pulitzer Prize-winning classic To Kill a Mockingbird. Originally written in the mid-1950s, Go Set a Watchman was the novel Harper Lee first submitted to her publishers before To Kill a Mockingbird. Assumed to have been lost, the manuscript was discovered in late 2014.

Boring
Revisado: 07-30-15
Would you recommend this book to a friend? Why or why not?
I would recommend this to a friend who wants a quick easy read, but not to someone who wants a story. Nothing happens.
What could Harper Lee have done to make this a more enjoyable book for you?
Add a plot. It's her philosophy told through Scout's voice. No real meet to the story.
Have you listened to any of Reese Witherspoon’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
no
Do you think Go Set a Watchman needs a follow-up book? Why or why not?
No. I think she said it all.

Historia
It is a tale of ghosts, of madness, of revenge - of old alliances giving way to new intrigues. Denmark is changing, shaking off its medieval past. War with Norway is on the horizon. And Hamlet - son of the old king, nephew of the new - becomes increasingly entangled in a web of deception - and murder. Beautifully performed by actor Richard Armitage ("Thorin Oakenshield" in the Hobbit films), Hamlet, Prince of Denmark takes Shakespeare’s original into unexpected realms, reinventing a story we thought we knew.

Shakespeare improved
Revisado: 04-17-15
What did you love best about Hamlet, Prince of Denmark: A Novel?
I have never been a big Shakespeare fan. The language is too difficult for me to get past. This brought the story to life and made me want to read more.
What did you like best about this story?
Good read. You can't go wrong with Hamlet as long as you keep the original in mind.
Which character – as performed by Richard Armitage – was your favorite?
The jester.
If you were to make a film of this book, what would the tag line be?

Historia
Anna Benz, an American in her late thirties, lives with her Swiss husband, Bruno—a banker—and their three young children in a postcard-perfect suburb of Zürich. Though she leads a comfortable, well-appointed life, Anna is falling apart inside. Adrift and increasingly unable to connect with the emotionally unavailable Bruno or even with her own thoughts and feelings, Anna tries to rouse herself with new experiences: German language classes, Jungian analysis, and a series of sexual affairs she enters with an ease that surprises even her.

What did you like best about Hausfrau? What did you like least?
Book is well-written. Story is boring and depressing. Main character is totally unlikeable.
What do you think your next listen will be?
14
What does Mozhan Marno bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
She's a very good narrator. She made the characters unique.
Could you see Hausfrau being made into a movie or a TV series? Who should the stars be?
I hope not.
Any additional comments?
This woman is do depressed that she made me want to shoot myself. She has no redeeming value and no self-insight.
