Historia
Melanie Stryder refuses to fade away. Earth has been invaded by a species that takes over the minds of their human hosts while leaving their bodies intact, and most of humanity has succumbed. Wanderer, the invading "soul" who has been given Melanie's body, knew about the challenges of living inside a human: the overwhelming emotions, the too-vivid memories. But there was one difficulty Wanderer didn't expect.

Wrong choice in narrator
Revisado: 07-11-25
Choice in narrator was terrible. If I don't like a book I normally just keep quiet. In this case I still love the story but the narrator butchered it. She is little better than virtual voice. Which frustrates me as I do not purchase virtual voice books.
The story is still just as wonderful as it has always been. I would however recommend a physical or electronic copy and not this audible version.
To be fair there are moments the narrator elevates her reading to the point I can forget she is frustrating me.

FANTASTIC performance
Revisado: 04-30-25
I wish I could give this performance more than 5 stars. The music performed throughout the book made the story so engaging. I am such a fan of the series after this. I will be listening to he next book immediately.

Historia
When the nouveau-riche Peterkins invite an artistic couple to live and work in a disused wing of their country home, they unknowingly craft a cocktail of conflict, tension, and deceit. This delightful social comedy is told from the perspective of Lancaster, the household's rigidly inhibited butler, who is torn between his principles of professional detachment and his love for the Peterkins.

Comical to the point of tears
Revisado: 03-21-25
There were many chapters where I laughed continually. A unique story and all the more comical told from the remote and objective perspective of the butler.
I do love when the author narrates their own work. Owen Hebbert really delivered and brought the characters to life.
To say more I am afraid I will ruin the enjoyment of experiencing the story and plot twists for yourself.

Found this one completely by chance. I thoroughly enjoyed it from beginning to end. The longer I listened the better it got. Completely unique storyline and fantastic plot twists in the last few chapters.

Diana Gabaldon's fans will be delighted to find Jamie and Claire as spirited and endearing as ever in this fourth installment of this magnificent saga. Twice Claire has used an ancient stone circle to travel back to the 18th century. The first time she found love with a Scottish warrior but had to return to the 1940s to save their unborn child. The second time she reunited with her lost love but had to leave behind the daughter that he would never see. another masterpiece
Revisado: 02-17-25
At times I thought the story was going to veer in different paths to the Netflix interpretation. Things occurred with more finesse in the book
At times I wanted to scream at the characters. Love the tension building.
Thank you Diana Gabaldon for another masterpiece. And thank you Davina Porter for another perfect rendition. I don't know if there is another voice actor as talented out there. Her range is marvelous

lessons toward enlightenment
Revisado: 01-19-25
I would have enjoyed a completely fictional or completely nonfictional account of this story. many times I was left wondering if the story was actually how things played out.
The story could have been much richer and fuller with attention to detail, much of the story and happenings felt like they were summarised.
I almost gave up but I'm glad I didn't.
The last third of the book gave me food for thought and I enjoyed it.

My dear Miss Bridgerton, We have been corresponding now for quite some time, and although we have never formally met, I feel as if I know you. I am writing to invite you to visit me here at Romney Hall. It is my hope that after a suitable period of time, we might decide that we will suit, and you will consent to be my wife. Did he think she was mad? Eloise Bridgerton couldn't marry a man she had never met! But before she knew it, she was in a hired carriage in the middle of the night, on her way to meet the man she hoped might be her perfect match.

Revisado: 12-19-24
My favourite characters in this one were Amanda and Oliver.
I did enjoy that it was a fresh story that Netflix has not yet influenced in my mind. I think I enjoyed it all the more due to not having any preconceived notions.

Historia
By all accounts, Simon Basset is on the verge of proposing to his best friend's sister - the lovely and almost-on-the-shelf - Daphne Bridgerton. But the two of them know the truth - it's all an elaborate ruse to keep Simon free from marriage-minded society mothers. And as for Daphne, surely she will attract some worthy suitors now that it seems a duke has declared her desirable. But as Daphne waltzes across ballroom after ballroom with Simon, it's hard to remember that their courtship is a sham.

enjoyed it
Revisado: 12-17-24
Narrower focus on just the main characters than the Netflix series. I did enjoy it and some very comical moments. Another difference to the Netflix series is that the characters are more likeable. Netflix villianised many events and personality traits, this version seems more like things would actually play out in the real world

wizard or lunatic?
Revisado: 12-13-24
This second installment really had us questioning whether Rin is a wizard or a lunatic. The last 3rd of the book finally gave us a definite answer.
The characters were just as enjoyable as in Wizard for Hire. Events which made us feel disappointed in book 1 were taken up again in book 2 and I hope will have satisfactory and pleasing endings in book 3.
My son and I have already purchased Magic Required. We are thrilled to be starting it.

So much better than the movie
Revisado: 12-09-24
I couldn't stop listening, I have had my earbuds in every opportunity I get. On opening my eyes in the morning I am immediately gripped with thoughts of Mark Whatney. What is he thinking, what challenge is he going to overcome next? What he must be feeling and awe at how he thinks himself out of such life threatening situations. I realise it is fiction, but the mark of good fiction is its ability to pull you into the world of the authors imagination. This story most definitely pulled me in, at times to the point of tears.
The most poignant themes being that of the value of human connection as well as the will to survive.
