Charles Starkweather was a teenager when he went on a killing spree in the late 1950s. He committed 11 murders in total, including 3 members of his 14-year-old girlfriend's family. He then took Caril Ann Fugate with him on the run from Nebraska to Wyoming, murdering as he went. Join Mike and Gibby as they discuss this infamous case from the 1950s. The murderous exploits of Charles Starkweather shocked the nation and it had many in the Midwest in a state of fear. After they were apprehended, both Starkweather and Fugate were charged with first-degree murder.

I was a sophomore at Guernsey high school, 20 miles from where Charley turned north when he came. though this.s are a . this crime wave was not the usual happening in our sleepy little town. in fact we were all scared as he'll. Everyone as much as possible stayed in their homes and made sure the guns were clean and loaded. What a relief when he was captured.
:Most everybody followed th e story and anticipated the day they put him to death we planned an overnight slumber party to celebrate. The odd thing is that we watched the clock ,,,,this was set to happen at midnight in Lincoln , 11 in Guernsey Wy.
As we were giggling in our sleeping bags the hour of Charlies electrocution . and y
we listened with our little translater radios.
Then the lights all over town went out! now none of us was dumb enough to think the events in Lincoln would affect Wyoming power,but it scared the he'll out of us anyway. we gathered our gear and went inside.
I've thought about this event for all thes.e years, and I've about decided that whomever controlled the city power.
