Historia
Best-selling novelist Kate Drake is one of seven sisters gifted with amazing powers of witchcraft. Returning home in time for her northern California town's annual Christmas pageant, Kate catches the spirit of the season and decides to open a bookstore in a charming but run-down historic mill. Decorated former U.S. Army Ranger Matt Granite, now a local contractor, doesn't mind working in the undeniably eerie house -- not if it means getting closer to Kate. There's something about the quiet, sensual woman that powerfully attracts him.

Not the best story from a normally great author.
Revisado: 09-19-23
I've listened to the series about six times. This story is a struggle every single time. The narrator that's so monotone, nasally and flat. Add that to the fact that it's just a short little Christmas story that's premise is very weak and silly and you've got something that's not quite worthy of the author or the Drake sisters series.

What. The. Hell?
Revisado: 05-10-14
I love Maya Banks. Love her. But damn was this book trash. It was whiney, clichéd, repetitive and so unoriginal. There was no plot, the dialogue was phoned in and the narrator spoke through her teeth while portraying that male lead. Half of the book read like an instructional Dominate/Submissive for Dummies manual. It was so corny, with phrases like, "I will love you forever darling" or "he gave her wings to fly". Struggled so hard to finish it purely out of respect for the author. Wow. Was this awful. Not one redeeming quality. Majorly disappointed.

Great book & narrator - homophobes need not apply!
Revisado: 07-01-12
I???ve never read Suzanne Brockman before, but I liked the basic idea of the book, so I took a chance. So freakin??? glad I did. This book gives you three different romantic possibilities and artfully portrays the point of view of many of the book???s characters along the way. All of the homophobes out there can take a flying leap and move on to just another boring romance. This author took just as much care in portraying the emotional aspects of the homosexual relationship as the heterosexual relationships. I was emotionally involved in all of them and the author caught hold of my heart strings and tugged hard enough to make me tear up a few times. I will definitely try another book from this author. If you believe in love no matter what sex you???re attracted to and love a little kick-ass revolutionary paranormal storyline???you can???t go wrong. NOT the boring-hum-drum-same-old-story-line-and-characters and not everyone in the story ends up with the typical happy ending. Definitely one of the ten best I???ve ever downloaded from Audible.

False & misleading advertising & reviews - BORING!
Revisado: 05-26-12
I received an email from Audible. I mean who hasn???t gotten an email from them ???helping??? us to find books to spend our credits on? So it suggested some good romance books for me???cause that???s my area of interest. Like a stupid, blind, propaganda-following-fool, I put this book in my Wish List. The reviewers were raving about it and so, not having ever read this author, and wanting something new???I took the plunge???apparently into a toilet bowl of lies, melodramatic plant infested storylines and absolutely NO ROMANCE whatsoever. About three fourths of the way into the boring listening experience I wondered if there would ever be anything even remotely resembling a romantic scene. So I went to my local bookstore and found a copy of this book. Here it is people: There are 390 pages and the first kiss between the main characters starts at page 369. It???s so un-noteworthy that the ???sex??? scene is a whole three sentences long. I???m not into porn on earphones, but could I get a little bit more finesse in there that could possibly mollify me after hours of listening to the main characters being caught and released so many times I felt like I was listening to a fishing show? No. Absolutely damn not. Such a waste of a credit it makes me wanna hurl. All of you who gave this a good review need to go and get a clue. Audible needs to yank this thing out of Romance and put it where it belongs: In the sincerely-boring Fantasy section. I should have just listened to the radio. It???s free.

Makes me wish I was in Texas & had me a cowboy
Revisado: 10-31-11
Can Lisa Kleypas write or what?! The woman puts other authors to shame in this novel. If you???re looking for a classic romance you???re in the wrong section. However, this book only gets bonus points for bringing the reader through the journey of a woman???s life so that not only are you emotionally invested in the story, but you truly understand the decisions she makes when deciding between her two alternate endings. To say it???s one of the best books I???ve read would be an understatement. The narrator performs an authentic Texas accent (coming from a born & raised Texan - that???s sayin??? somethin???) and really does the book justice. Can???t go wrong ??? buy-on-with-your-bad-self. It???s well worth the credit.

My 1st & LAST Alyssa day book. Physically painful!
Revisado: 10-28-11
I don???t know which was worse: The narrator or the dialogue. The narrator tried ??? bless his little inept heart, he really did. But he sucked rocks. I???ve been listening to audio books for years, and this guy rivals the worst narrator I have ever heard (See Juanita Parker who is the narrator for the original Dark Prince by Christine Feehan. Great Feehan book ??? pitiful narrator). I can???t believe that the rest of these Atlantis books are also narrated by Joshua Swanson. The man should be selling cars, not narrating books.
Adding insult to severe injury is the dialogue in this book. I rolled my eyes so many times I was worried they???d get stuck in my forehead. Such pathetic attempts at masculine warrior banter and bad, tired jokes were so hard to listen to I threw up in my mouth a little.
This book could have been exceptional. I give the author props for the original idea. Maybe reading this book would have been better, I don???t know. All I do know is that I wanted to physically harm the narrator and repeatedly ask the author, ???Really? Is that the best you could come up with???? Wow - this really bit the big one people. Avert your eyes and move along.

Which idiot changed narrators for this one book?
Revisado: 03-21-11
I have all of the books in this series. Each book is written in first person which allows the reader to see this new literary world through Merry's eyes. These books progressively get better every time I listen. However this particular book is truly the culmination of the five previous books and the most important in the series. Unfortunately some publishing DORK changed the narrator to some British chick instead of keeping Laurell Merlington. I'd pay for this book all over again just to have the old narrator make it come to life and keep the tone of the books more uniform. You can't get better than these books if your genre runs parallel to all things paranormal and romance. But lumping it into that one category of books isn't doing the series justice. I love this series so much that I own them in hard copy and through Audible. This series is more graphically sexual than Anita Blake ever thought about being and there are no vampires. However if a slew of beautiful men rotating out of one extremely lucky woman's bed gives your body the warm tingles and wrenches up the possibilities in your imagination - you can't go wrong with these books. Can't wait for the next one!

Charley sees dead people. That's right, she sees dead people. And it's her job to convince them to "go into the light." But when these very dead people have died under less than ideal circumstances (i.e., murder), sometimes they want Charley to bring the bad guys to justice. Complicating matters are the intensely hot dreams she's been having about an Entity who has been following her all her life...and it turns out he might not be dead after all. In fact, he might be something else entirely.

I was worried about this book and ultimately trusted the previous reviewers for that final leap of faith to move this book from my wishlist to my cart. So happy I did. I always carefully review every potential purchase and then listen to my favorites over and over again. This one surprised me, made me laugh out loud and sucked me in to identify with the main character. Loved it. Take the leap guys. You won't be sorry you did.

An old snail, quicksand & not-so-romantic material
Revisado: 08-02-10
Don???t be fooled by the short description of this book. It???s not a fun little erotic story. Instead it confronts serious subject matter. The main character was gang raped as an 18 year old virgin. While I like some of Lori Foster???s work, this isn???t one that I would recommend unless you???re prepared and want to deal with such a serious issue. Additionally this story moved extremely slow, crawling along like a crippled, ancient snail on sedatives. While Foster covered the delicate subject matter well, I was automatically disappointed because I was expecting something completely different. Tread carefully if you aren???t ready to crawl into the serious quicksand filling this slow moving story. I definitely regret the purchase.

Revisado: 07-26-10
This was OK. Definite heroes and villains. Definite story lines. Definite mildly interesting characters. But still just OK. If you're looking for erotic - you'll get some bang for your buck. If you're looking for a deeply entrenched storyline with multilayered characters and dramatic intrigue you might wanna pass. Didn't suck and didn't rock. Just average.
