it was very difficult to get through all of the lists. every time something was looted or reviewed, he would read through each item in a list when reading a physical book. I imagine you would just skim that rather than reading in detail each item, but in an audiobook it's just ridiculous

overall, it was ok. but at times it feels like some adventure game where after a few victories the protagonist gets to upgrade his armor and weapons.

A good mix of camp, ,cyber punk, humor and nostalgia. The twist at the end, did catch me a bit by surprise, and the universe he has created here has me eagerly looking forward to listening to the next book.

Good wrap-up to the series

This was a good wrap-up and answered several open issues from the main novels. It generally reads pretty much like the others, but there are definitely what appear to be some Asian pop-culture references that are like an inside joke. With a little internet searching, you can find the reference, which is amusing, but it seemed out of place in the novel.

In "Dark Destiny," C.T. Phipps takes a different path from his typical sci-fi and cyberpunk themes, dialing back on the humor that characterizes much of his other work. The story stands out with its unique narrative and interesting twists, offering a fresh perspective from the author. Although it contains some pop-culture references, they are less prominent compared to his usual style. The book is engaging, compelling me to indulge in unexpected 'driveway moments', captivated by the story before resuming my day. The significant reveal at the end of the first novel, however, seemed a bit predictable, and it was surprising that Robbie, the main character, didn't catch on earlier. I'm curious to see how the series evolves in the next book.

Adapting to Gary Noon's narration was initially a shift for me, as I'm more familiar with Jeffrey Kafer's narration in Phipps' other works. In the end, Gary Noon delivered a solid performance.

"Destiny's Paradox" by C.T. Phipps, the engaging sequel to "Dark Destiny," wonderfully exceeds expectations. Where the first book hinted at predictability, this installment is a delightful surprise, weaving in twists and turns that truly enhance the narrative. It's impressive how the story evolves from its solid beginnings to an even more captivating level. I'm very excited about the next book and can't wait to see where this intriguing series takes us next.

Looking for a book that's a spoof,
On superheroes, with humor that's proof,
That laughter is what you need,
To make your day a happy feed.

The characters are wacky, wild and weird,
Their quirks and traits are what's to be feared,
But their dialogues are clever and bright,
Keeping you chuckling throughout the night.

There's action galore, with fights and chases,
And explosions that leave you with amazed faces,
The story moves at a lightning pace,
Leaving you breathless, with nary a trace.

If you want a book that's a joy to read,
Filled with jokes and puns to feed,
Your funny bone, then this is the one,
That will leave you smiling when it's done.

I normally love it when Neil Gaiman narrates his stories, however his choice of voice and manner to portray the protagonist made this painful to listen to. The magical world and story he created was made much less by the introduction of Richard as the main protagonist.

What did you love best about Star Wars: Heir to the Empire (20th Anniversary Edition)?

The plot to the story is pretty good. There are some situations that seem out of character for the characters, but overall generally consistent with the series, and the original stories.

How did the narrator detract from the book?

Mara Jade is definitely over-acted.

What did you like best about The Merchant of Death? What did you like least?

I found this to be an interesting story line, and reasonably well developed. I am interested in how the series turns out. Unfortunately, the main character tends to go on and ramble far too much about analogies, and past experiences. In the middle of an exciting time in the story he will take 10 minutes to relate something back to an earlier childhood experience. I was often left with the feeling "when will he just get on with the story"I liked the performance for the most part, but my wife thought the narrator had problems with women's voices and he made them very breathy.

How would you have changed the story to make it more enjoyable?

Less rambling narrative by Bobby.

Did William Dufris do a good job differentiating all the characters? How?

Yes, but the women were a little unrealistic in their breathy voices.
