Historia
March, 1815. The Bourbon King Louis XVIII has been restored to the throne of France, Napoleon is in exile on the isle of Elba, and Sebastian St. Cyr, Viscount Devlin, and his wife, Hero, have traveled to Paris in hopes of tracing his long-lost mother, Sophie, the errant Countess of Hendon. But his search ends in tragedy when he comes upon the dying Countess in the wasteland at the tip of the Île de la Cité. Stabbed—apparently with a stiletto—and thrown from the bastions of the island's ancient stone bridge, Sophie dies without naming her murderer.

Another excellent story by C.S. Harris!
Revisado: 06-02-22
C.S. Harris is such an excellent author. She really puts her work into her research for her books. I love a really good Historical fiction book. Harris always inspires me to look up the historical events behind the fictional story, and this book was no exception. Having invested so many years into these characters, I still related to and understood them. The only issue with this release is the horrible narration! It was just bad. At points in the story I had difficulty figuring out if it was Sebastian or Hero speaking. Davina Porter is in great demand, but seeing that we had to wait weeks after the print release to get the audio version, I would have waited longer still to have Davina. She is the VOICE of this audio series. no doubt about it.

Revisado: 04-23-20
I am a huge fan of C.S. Harris, I'll just say it up front. My husband and I have read and reread the Sebastian St. Cyr series over and over, So we waited with great anticipation for this latest installment - and it did not disappoint! Sebastian and Hero (Lord and Lady Devlin), and all the gang come together once again in the cause of justice. If you don't already know, Sebastian is Mr. Darcy meets James Bond. (Nice!) This installment is just as fast paced as the previous books - and so much fun! Harris is a clever writer, see if you can match wits with her! I hate it when a review spoils the fun with hints, so I won't give you any! The book version is great, and the Audio version is read by the fabulous Divina Porter - who is treat by herself. Enjoy!

Revisado: 05-28-19
C.S. Harris is a master at weaving history, murder, politics, and semi justice into an edge of your seat story. (No spoilers here!) The book is so well written that I could see it all play out in my head. This series is one of my favorites. I love Sensation and Hero, and it's always great to catch up with the rest of the supporting cast as well. I'm already looking forward to Sebastian's next adventure!

The reviews for this book were great! I was so looking forward to this listen. But this book was just so incredibly BORING. And strange. I kept telling myself, “It’s not that bad…” and “Well, that is just weird.” And “No way, there’s still that many hours left to this thing?!” Still, I trudged along with it – for 6 painful hours that I’ll never get back. It’s over 15 hours and I made it through more than a third of it. Is that good or bad? Bad. Very bad.

I took a chance and bought this on sale from Audible. I was pleasantly surprised, it was a lot better than I expected from what I read in the description. I really looked forward to listening to the story each time. This story was a tale of finding power within ourselves through helping other people, and thinking about the greater good over our own wants or needs. Very uplifting. I also liked the magical twist as well. I will definitely put the next book in my Wish List.

Getting a life isn't always easy. And hanging on to it is even harder.... Jodi Taylor brings all her comic writing skills to this heartwarming tale of self-discovery. Known as The Nothing Girl because of her severe stutter and chronically low self-confidence, Jenny Dove is only just prevented from ending it all by the sudden appearance of Thomas, a mystical golden horse only she can see. Under his guidance Jenny unexpectedly acquires a husband - the charming and chaotic Russell Checkland.

Wow! I don't know what took me so long to read this! My husband and I are big fans of Jodi Taylor's "The Chronicles of St. Mary's" series. I guess i was worried that this wouldn't live up to that standard. Silly me. This story was absolutely fantastic! The story line was different than I expected, so I was surprised at how quickly we were sucked into it. We listened to this on Audible while we were on a car trip, and it was so good that we had to sit in the car a while linger just to listen a bit more before we could go inside! Great characters - Jodi Taylor is amazing!

This was a wonderful short Christmas story set between the first 2 Frogmorton books. (Hopefully there will more.) The characters are back to give us just a taste of what happened after the eventful ending of the first book. This story answered a few questions that were left unanswered in "The Nothing Girl" - definitely read that first. Loved it!

Maggie Hope has come a long way since serving as a typist for Winston Churchill. Now she's working undercover for the Special Operations Executive in the elegant but eerily silent city of Paris, where SS officers prowl the streets in their Mercedes and the Ritz is draped with swastika banners. Walking among the enemy is tense and terrifying, and even though she's disguised in chic Chanel, Maggie can't help longing for home.

Good series, terrible narrator.
Revisado: 01-24-19
I've listened to all the previous books in this series. The only problem with it is the horrible narrator. Her nasal, monotone voiceis so bad that my husband stopped listening to the series 2 books ago. I held on because I have really gotten into the storyline. This time I just couldn't take it. I had to return it for a refund. It's a real shame too, because she also does the Invisible Library series, so we're done with that one as well.

I didn't quite know what to expect from this book. But it had good reviews - and it was on sale, so I took a chance. As the audio started I was wondering if I would be able to tolerate the voice. Before you know it I was under the spell. My husband and I absolutely LOVED the dark whit and snappy comebacks. The spooky sounds and jazzy music between the chapters gives it a sort of Halloweenish character, another good thing. Speaking of characters, they are great - in a completely crazy magical sort of way. Rupert Degas was brilliant with the voices - so much so that everything came to life, just like magic. Hmm.... The next book in the series is already in my queue.
