Historia
When summoned to a fantastical world and granted powers by a broken System, most freshly minted protagonists would strap on their big-boy boots and get ready for their stats to start climbing. But Fischer isn't like most MCs. In fact, he doesn't want to be a hero at all. Fame? Fortune? Power? He had enough of all that in his old life. Discovering forbidden fishing techniques and petting every cute animal that comes within scritching distance? Now that's a good time.

I really loved this story.
Revisado: 02-12-25
If like me you like the Cosy or RPGLIT genre and liked You can't spell treason without tea or Legends and Lattes crossed with He Who Fights with Monsters. Then this is for you! Like the slice of life books of Nathan Lowell Share series, this is character and all character driven story. It is explores son father relationships, the meaning of faith, obsessional thinking. Cookbooks for fish and other sea food. And whole mess of cults and dead gods. And a bit of romance.
Notes on Heath Miller, he is an absolute legend and has to right up the top of my favourite Aussie narrators. Right behind the Health Miller who does he who fights with monsters. Hang on a moment do you think they are the same guy!

Loved the book and the words. There was life and death, the one we expected and the one we didn’t. I cried out, “What!” more than once. Overall the story and voice acting is solid and surprising. I want the next story now. And I could do with a sandwidge too.

Not every danger comes in the form of a mega-threat like a Titan. Some predators are a lot cozier...more personal. When one such creature threatens an independent tutor, Harry Dresden must shake off the blood and dirt of his most recent battles and rise to the occasion, even when it turns out that the new predator is far more dangerous and connected than first appearances would suggest.

Great for first time narrating, but bring back James Marsters, please please please
Revisado: 07-13-24
As intriguing as it was hearing the author read his work and get a peak into, no doubt, what he hears in his head as he writes,
I did not appreciate just how much James Marsters brings to the table for this series. He actually, I think, manages to improve the writing and flesh out the characters when he reads. No doubt the director guides that, too. I suppose any great voice actor could, but it’s like having been riding shotgun in a Ferrari for this whole series and suddenly finding yourself sitting in a Toyota. Maybe that’s a bit harsh, but that’s the thing when you fall in love with someone’s interpretation of the characters you love, Narrators are not interchangable.

It took to long to arrive.
Revisado: 05-24-24
It's a complex story overall, but this one is too simple, so I gave it three stars for the story. We have reoccurring characters with long-running hatred of each other, old friendships that have evolved to that point where an insult in the heat of battle is a pure expression of love, and often discussed is the activities of Lazarus Cain.
We are even setting up the Hudson Hawk version of the cup of coffee. If you know you know. Else a great movie.
One mechanic of this story is respawning, but the consequence is almost nothing. The story jumps from the game to the real world.
In the real world, the game company cannot sell the pods fast enough, and millions of people are waiting to join. So why not introduce a mechanic like "Respawn, but if your character dies within one in-game week or more than X times, the player is kicked out, and another player gets the machine. " Give the player choices weight and player death means something.
However, events push the overall story forward. I would have hoped for a little less "Same bad guy." turning up and a little more WOW, this is why the world is so fascinating.
The narration by Luke Daniels, a prolific actor on Audible, continues to deliver a good performance.

Loved it.
Revisado: 05-24-24
Farnsworth's Classical English Argument stands out in a series of books that delve into the intricacies of language construction by uniquely using historical examples. It not only demonstrates various argumentative styles like Irony, Circularity, or Consistency, but also showcases their application in masterworks of the past. The book then skillfully dissects these arguments, revealing their underlying structures.
Like the work of Robert Greene in the 48 Law of Power and others, Farnsworth expertly pulls examples of what it is to be affected and to effect through language change and prevent its abuses.
It was narrated perfectly.
One small concern: this work ends too soon. Should a single chapter be expanded into its own work? I would furiously click and tap my keyboard and mouse to purchase it.

Work never ends, even for the dead.
Revisado: 02-14-24
This is an excellent take on Urban Fantasy investigator. I love constraints on the main character; there are lots of strings to pull on for future books.
I was struck by the unique take on the MC build and how it was new. I found myself thinking of all the characters in history, Asking who would be damned like this... I have a few front runners and hope it is revealed eventually.
The story is solid, with good clues and a few enjoyable red herrings. The narrator was great, really great.
I have a few bugbears; the word gank comes up too many times. And time seems to expand and shrink a little bit. With an event taking minutes and then a similar event taking hours.
But, you will see that I have marked this as an overall 5-star, and these things make no difference to how much I genuinely enjoyed this story.

The story had picked up in complexity. And you are going to get a more rich experience. Still has a lot of battling, but you get to see more of the universe. A really big lore drop from Villys past and more crazy from Jake.

The theory that Shakespeare may not have written the works that bear his name is the most horrible, unspeakable subject in the history of English literature. Scholars admit that the Bard’s biography is a “black hole,” yet to publicly question the identity of the god of English literature is unacceptable, even (some say) “immoral.” In Shakespeare Was a Woman and Other Heresies, journalist and literary critic Elizabeth Winkler sets out to probe the origins of this literary taboo.

The argument is well explored, and the pros and cons of each possible alternative are presented. The reader is left to make a decision as to what they believe and altought the passion of the author is present in every page it is never mean or over powering.
