Historia
Nobel Prize-winning scientist Sarah Collier has taken a step back from work to spend more time with her family. Movie nights with her husband Daniel and their daughter Maddie are a welcome respite from the scrutiny of the world’s press. As much as it hurts, it’s good to be able to see her father more too. He’s suffering from Alzheimer’s and needs special care. Sarah has started to show tell-tale signs of the disease too. She’s been experiencing blackouts and memory loss. It’s early days but she must face the possibility that she won’t be there to see her daughter grow up.

You never know what’s coming next
Revisado: 04-25-25
This was quite a “page turner”.
It really could have been longer to explain minor characters like Pavel earlier. The beginning took up too much of the work just to establish that Sarah and Daniel had a good marriage (thus deceiving the listener).
Of course the voices were each perfect except when there were more than two speakers.
I look forward to more by the author.

I never was sure what this—overall—was going to be about. I was unfamiliar with most of the religious persons names, locations, positions. Yet, the book was so comprehensive, I got a lot out of it. No regrets about listening.

Historia
In 2019, author John Green met Henry Reider, a young tuberculosis patient at Lakka Government Hospital in Sierra Leone. John became fast friends with Henry, a boy with spindly legs and a big, goofy smile. In the years since that first visit to Lakka, Green has become a vocal advocate for increased access to treatment and wider awareness of the healthcare inequities that allow this curable, preventable infectious disease to also be the deadliest, killing over a million people every year. In Everything Is Tuberculosis, John tells Henry’s story.

A thoughtful mix of historical segments and the personal story of Henry. Sad, but necessarily enlightening.

Narrator kept at strong voice all throughout—distracting
Revisado: 03-09-25
This is about the 5th or 6th Grant bio I’ve “read”. Each seems to have a different view of the drinking legends. Catton is most detailed in rejecting specific stories.

Too much happy ending for a mystery

This drags on too long. Intriguing as the plot lines were, it really lost the plot that it was offered as detective fiction.

Great historian; wrong reader
Revisado: 05-24-23
I first read Barbara Tuchman’s Guns of August about 60 years ago. I really like and admire her work. It was a mistake to get this Audible version because of the reader’s accent, most especially her pronunciation of French names and places. I had 4 years of French in high school but I couldn’t make out what she was saying. I’m willing to grant she probably was pronouncing accurately but it was too hard to follow.
