Historia
For more than a century, one of the world's great treasures, a 600-year-old copy of Dante's The Divine Comedy, has been safely housed at Bombay's Asiatic Society. But when it vanishes, together with the man charged with its care, British scholar and war hero John Healy, the case lands on Inspector Persis Wadia's desk. Uncovering a series of complex riddles written in verse, Persis - together with English forensic scientist Archie Blackfinch - is soon on the trail. But then they discover the first body.

A well written, satisfying mystery
Revisado: 10-09-21
This is the second book in the Malabar House mystery series. In this book, Persus, the first female police detective in India, must solve the case of the stolen original manuscript of The Divine Comedy. To solve this mystery, the reader is taken on an adventure involving ancient languages, famous literature and events from WW 2.
This is a great read. The mystery to be solved is engrossing and complex. The main character is very believable and well developed. I found it difficult to take breaks in listening because I wanted to hear what would happen next.
I have listened to this author's previous work including the first installment of Malabar House and all of the books in the Baby Ganesh detective series. In addition to engaging mysteries and compelling characters, Mr Khan paints a fascinating picture of India. I have enjoyed learning about India's history and culture through these books. I would highly recommend this book as well as all of Mr Khan's previous books.
No matter how well written , when listening to a book being read, the story can be ruined by poor narration. No worries here. The narrator for this story is absolutely perfect. She provides just the right voice for every character.

Historia
The time is Christmas Eve. The Christmas tree sellers have turned off their lights and gone home. The lots are empty, except for a few forlorn trees that nobody wanted. An eleven-year-old boy is sent out to pick through those trees and bring one back to the apartment where his Nanny raised him since infancy. What follows is part fable, part remembrance, part miracle.

Beautifully written story with very interesting insight into the lives of her parents, in particular, the author’s father. The narration, by the author, was perfect.
