It was hard to listen. The information was basic and I got a few new ideas though most was common sense.

Historia
More than 15 years after the events of The Handmaid's Tale, the theocratic regime of the Republic of Gilead maintains its grip on power, but there are signs it is beginning to rot from within. At this crucial moment, the lives of three radically different women converge, with potentially explosive results. Two have grown up as part of the first generation to come of age in the new order. The testimonies of these two young women are joined by a third: Aunt Lydia. Her complex past and uncertain future unfold in surprising and pivotal ways.

I am so glad Margaret Atwood wrote this sequel and I really appreciated the way she reintroduced the characters and their thoughts and ways of growing up and old in Gilead.

Historia
Eeny, meeny, miny, moe. Catch a tiger by its toe. It's seared into Atlee Pine's memory: the kidnapper's chilling rhyme as he chose between six-year-old Atlee and her twin sister, Mercy. Mercy was taken. Atlee was spared. She never saw Mercy again. Three decades after that terrifying night, Atlee Pine works for the FBI. She's the lone agent assigned to the Shattered Rock, Arizona resident agency, which is responsible for protecting the Grand Canyon. So when one of the Grand Canyon's mules is found stabbed to death at the bottom of the canyon - and its rider missing - Pine is called in to investigate.

Atlee Pine is fantastic
Revisado: 02-26-20
The story is fun to read, the setting is unique and the main character is a nice combination of smart, heroic and vulnerable.

Historia
Reacher is on a Greyhound bus, minding his own business, with no particular place to go and all the time in the world to get there. Then, he steps off the bus to help an old man who is obviously just a victim waiting to happen. But you know what they say about good deeds. Now, Reacher wants to make it right. An elderly couple have made a few well-meaning mistakes, and now they owe big money to some very bad people. One brazen move leads to another, and suddenly Reacher finds himself a wanted man in the middle of a brutal turf war between rival Ukrainian and Albanian gangs.

So much detail where we did not need it
Revisado: 02-26-20
This is my fourth Jack Reacher novel and the story begins with suspense, anticipation and interesting twists but the plot and characters are muddled by tedious description of the scene, weaponry and accessories. He got carried away in this book.

Historia
Meredith and Nina Whitson are as different as sisters can be. One stayed at home to raise her children and manage the family apple orchard; the other followed a dream and traveled the world to become a famous photojournalist. But when their beloved father falls ill, Meredith and Nina find themselves together again, standing alongside their cold, disapproving mother, Anya, who even now, offers no comfort to her daughters.

Needed editing
Revisado: 02-26-20
This story is beautiful, but the author (whose later books are wonderful) went into much more detail in the first half than was needed for the story or character development. The last third of the book is excellent, but I almost did not last long enough to get there.

Nice story
Revisado: 06-23-19
I enjoyed this story but at times it felt slow. Character development is detailed but moments of possible drama were glided over and in the end it just did not leave me wanting more.
