Appreciated the story but could have done without the overly graphic sex scene. Aside from that it was enjoyable reading.

Historia
On June 6, 1944, Werner T. Angress parachuted down from a C-47 into German-occupied France with the 82nd Airborne Division. Nine days later, he was captured behind enemy lines and, concealing his identity as a German-born Jew, became a prisoner of war. Eventually, he was freed by US forces, rejoined the fight, and participated in the liberation of a concentration camp. Although he was an American soldier, less than 10 years before he had been an enthusiastically patriotic German-Jewish boy. Rejected and threatened by the Nazi regime, the Angress family fled....

Historia
"Marley was dead to begin with...." These chillingly familiar words begin the classic Christmas tale of remorse and redemption in A Christmas Carol by Charles Dickens. Now R. William Bennett rewinds the story and focuses the spotlight on Scrooge’s miserly business partner, Jacob T. Marley, who was allowed to return as a ghost to warn Scrooge away from his ill-fated path. Why was Marley allowed to return? And why hadn’t he been given the same chance as Ebenezer Scrooge? Or had he?

this is book 4 and the Jack Grafton series. it was a good read and I like the way we follow Jake's career from Vietnam to DC. Reading the four books in order gives an interesting look at how choices and experiences develop character.

Historia
When the United States government passed the Bill of Rights in 1791, its uncompromising protection of speech and of the press were unlike anything the world had ever seen before. But by 1798, the once-dazzling young republic of the United States was on the verge of collapse. Suddenly, the First Amendment, which protected harsh commentary of the weak government, no longer seemed as practical. So that July, President John Adams and the Federalists in control of Congress passed an extreme piece of legislation that made criticism of the government and its leaders a crime.

Disappointed
Revisado: 07-01-21
Positive first: I was interested to learn something about the Clippers and Follett delivered there. the secondary store lines were well done and interesting. The narration was good.
BUT overall it was a poor listen -
The central plot line was forced. I can't imagine a former Naval officer and current flight professional acting with such careless disregard for the lives entrusted to him no matter the personal pressure. That is the essence of sound leadership.
Finally, the needless details in the sexual encounters were appalling. If you must read it to learn a little about the Clippers then just fast forward over that nonsense like I did.
