Historia
On the Alaska Peninsula, where exceptional landscapes are commonplace, a small river attracts attention far beyond its scale. Each year, from summer to early fall, brown bears and salmon gather at Brooks River to create one of North America's greatest wildlife spectacles. As the salmon leap from the cascade, dozens of bears are there to catch them, and thousands of people come to watch in person or on the National Park Service's popular Brooks Falls Bearcam. The Bears of Brooks Falls tells the story of this region and the bears that made it famous.

Historia
She soars above a world of warriors, kings, and priests. The daughter of Belgarath and the shape-shifter Poledra, she has fought wars, plotted palace coups, and worked her powerful magic for 3,000 years. Now, Polgara looks back at her magnificent life, in this fitting crown jewel to the saga that is the Eddingses' Belgariad and Mallorean cycles. Her hair streaked white by her father's first touch, her mind guided by a mother she will not see again for centuries, Polgara begins life in her Uncle Beldin's tower, and in the prehistorical, magical Tree that stands in the middle of the Vale.

hard to listen to after 11 previous books by a different narrator.
Revisado: 03-11-24
This book was hard to listen to. When there are 11 previous books in a fantasy series, it would have behooves the current narrator to listen to the previous books. Major changes in pronunciation of major names and places in the series are very jarring to listen to. I also think the voice/accent affected for the character Poledra don't fit with her character - the narrator's harsh yet drawing accent don't fit with the character developed in the previous books as well as the voice used by the previous narrator, which is also very jarring. this narrator's voice for Poledra is more fitting for a Cruella DeVille the character. it is quite obvious the narrator is not familiar with the book series. I will re-read this book in the future, but I won't listen to this one again.

When a star dies, a new one must be born. The Sun God chooses the village of Endwever to provide a mortal womb. Wonderful, charming story
Revisado: 06-02-23
I have read Charlie Holmberg's Paper Magician series, so knew this book would be good. But what a treat! The story is unusual, charming, and inventive. The narrator did an amazing job. I am heading right over to get the second book in the series.

Historia
Ce'Nedra, Imperial Princess of Tolnedra, is confused. Everyone knows the tales of the Orb protecting the West from the evil god Torak are just silly legends. But here she is, forced to join a quest to recover that stolen Orb. No one believes in sorcery, but Garion's aunt and grandfather seem to be the fabled sorcerers Polgara and Belgarath. Even young Garion is learning to do sorcery. He's just a farm boy, totally unsuitable for an Imperial Princess. Yet for some reason, she has the urge to comfort him.

male narrator and female voices
Revisado: 03-02-21
wonderful book, great series, and mostly OK narrator. but, like many male narrators, he attempts a female sounding voice for female characters. in doing so, he makes Pollard (strong, commanding, and awe-inspiring in the book) sound feeble and querulous. that is hugely disappointing and makes his narration of the entire series difficult to listen to.

Historia
In Creekstone, Texas, a small, quiet suburb of Houston, football was king and David Temple was a prince. A former high school and college gridiron-star-turned-coach, he had a fairy-tale marriage to bright, vivacious Belinda Lucas, a teacher at the local high school who was so warm and popular her colleagues called her "The Sunshine Girl". The fairy tale ended savagely on January 11, 1999, when Belinda's lifeless body was discovered in a closet. Her skull had been shattered by a shotgun blast at close range. She was eight months pregnant.

Awful narration.
Revisado: 12-15-19
The narrator speaks so quickly that everything sort of blurs together. I found myself having to go back and repeat sections and finally quit after less than an hour. I usually listen to books in the background while working on the computer, but completely lost track of the story due to the narration.
