Aided by his talking goose animal companion, magical cape, and the Goddess of Fate herself, Dirk is primed to take this Tower by storm.

Fun read
Revisado: 04-21-25
I picked this up to fill the time waiting for a book release in a series I follow. I usually avoid buying books that don't have many reviews (for new to me authors) but I love Phil Thron's narration so I took a chance. I enjoyed it so I'll be getting the next book.

I enjoyed this series, but...
Revisado: 04-08-25
I enjoyed this series and think it's great but this final book didn't measure up to the previous books. It felt like the author got tired of writing the series and contrived a hasty way to end it.

In a moment of danger, Hiral unlocks an achievement with a special instruction: Access a Dungeon to receive a Class-Specific Reward.

Can't Finish
Revisado: 01-17-25
I love Mark Of The Fool and expected to enjoy Rune Seeker just as much.
Instead, I found this book to be a disappointment.
The narrator ruins the story . He has very little range so it is difficult at times to determine which character is speaking. They sound similar and all have the same personality. His cadence is terrible; constantly pausing and ruining the flow of the narrative. He reads battle scenes with the same tone as conversations between characters. The humourous dialogue between characters fell flat.
The tone of his voice sounds like he is straining to get the words out and there were some words that were unintelligible.
I give up. The story seems interesting but it's hard to tell with the poor narration.

Historia
It’s just another Thanksgiving for the Sullivans - until the walls disappear and they discover they are being transported to Arenia, a place where game rules are real and their Earthen ability to reincarnate grants them unlimited potential. Or it would, if the celestial administrator in charge of their case hadn’t mixed up longitude and latitude and sent the wrong family. Now scattered throughout the Arenian wilderness and armed only with their Tomes, the family members must discover a strength they didn’t know they had if they are going to survive.

Such a fun book
Revisado: 11-19-24
I always check out any book narrated by Jeff Hays and this book did not disappoint! For many years, my book choices have evolved from epic SciFi/Fantasy to SciFi/Fantasy that has some humor. This one definitely fits the bill. I have also listened to book 2 and it is wonderful also. I'm eagerly awaiting book 3.

With no way of seeking him out, they turn their attention to surviving in a town far different from anything they have experienced before.

Not for me
Revisado: 10-02-23
This book is just "OK". It would be better with a different narrator. I feel that the narrator gives a lackluster performance. Perhaps I just have too high expectations from listening to narrators like Jeff Hays and RC Bray, who give outstanding performances. For example, the MC occasionally reviews his stats. Sometimes the text of the stats have some humor and the MC remarks about the snarkiness of system AI. The narrator should have read the stats with humor or snarkiness instead of the lackluster performance he uses for the rest of the book.
I won't be finishing it.

Stopped listening in chapter 4
Revisado: 10-14-20
I couldn't finish. The male narrator ruins the experience. He has a halting, mechanical way of reading that I found annoying. I didn't make to the female narrator's part so I can't say if she is better. The story was interesting, at least up to chapter 4 but it was not worth having to listen to the narrator.

Nothing good ever comes from drinking a box of wine alone. So when I decided to entertain my drunken self by setting up some hand-me-down podcasting equipment and reading the steamy parts from romance novels, I never thought anyone would actually listen. The fact that I admitted my huge crush on my sexy next door neighbor made the whole thing even more mortifying. But sometimes life surprises you, and that’s how my podcast, Heidi’s Discount Erotica, was born. Now I, Heidi Larsen, a sweet former kindergarten teacher in Waconia, Minnesota, lead a scandalous double life.
