Historia
In less than a year, Neil Peart lost both his 19-year-old daughter, Selena, and his wife, Jackie. Faced with overwhelming sadness and isolated from the world in his home on the lake, Peart was left without direction. That lack of direction lead him on a 55,000 mile journey by motorcycle across much of North America, down through Mexico to Belize, and back again.

Boring, Tedious, and Repetitive
Revisado: 10-08-21
The book started out reasonably okay. But about a third of the way through, it became highly repetitive and tedious and I couldn't finish it. I get he was in a bad mood from the loss of his wife and daughter, but it may have been a bad idea to leave in the derogatory comments about, well, just about everyone.
Given that he was in a dark time of his life, I'm simply trying to forget this book and not pass my impressions of it onto Peart.

Historia
For 30 years, drummer, author, and songwriter Neil Peart had wanted to write a book about "the biggest journey of all in my restless existence: the life of a touring musician." Finally, the right time, and the right tour. In the summer of 2004, after three decades, 20 gold albums, and thousands of performances, the band Rush embarked on a 30th Anniversary World Tour. The "R30" tour traveled to nine countries, where the band performed 57 shows for more than half a million fans. Uniquely, Peart chose to do his between-show traveling by motorcycle, riding 21,000 miles of back roads.

"Don't Meet Your Heroes"
Revisado: 10-08-21
Rush is one of my favorite bands, but luckily, Peart isn't one of my heroes. I knew very little about him, which isn't all that strange, as I have made it a point not to get to know those in the lime light (actors, musicians, etc.). I want to enjoy the art without any baggage - good or bad - layered on top.
I got these books when they were offered for free when Peart died. Employing my rule from above, I would not have otherwise acquired these books. Of the two I've listened to, this one was the better one. It was an interesting look into behind the shows, road tour life, and mostly Peart's motorcycle rides between tour cities. It was mildly interesting, overall, but not something I would listen to again.

Star Wars Fan Fic
Revisado: 06-13-21
To me, this is essentially a Star Wars side story without claiming to be in the Star Wars universe. I liked it enough to listen to all of it, but I won't be getting any of the other books in the series. I'd say this falls somewhere between teen and adult sci-fi fiction.

In the second decade of the 21st century, the world is struck by two catastrophes: a new mini-ice age and a plague to dwarf all previous experiences. Good for what it was
Revisado: 06-13-21
I listened to this at the recommendation of a friend; one who's into military fiction. Contemporary or historical military fiction and non-fiction isn't really of interest to me, so getting through this book was a bit more tedious than I prefer, but the book overall was enjoyable. I'm familiar with Ringo's sci-fi books, and the writing style is much the same.

Historia
Is bourbon the quintessential American liquor? Bourbon is not just alcohol - the amber-colored drink is deeply ingrained in American culture and tangled in American history. From the early days of raw corn liquor to the myriad distilleries that have proliferated around the country today, bourbon is a symbol of the United States. This course traces bourbon's entire history, from the 1700s, with Irish, Scottish, and French settlers setting up stills and making distilled spirits in the New World, through today's booming resurgence.

I like bourbon and thought it'd be nice to know about some of its history. This book was enjoyable and informative. Not just on bourbon, but on the history surrounding the golden brown liquor.

Decent Military Fiction
Revisado: 06-13-21
I bought this accidentally, thinking it was part of the Gray Man series. Instead of returning it, I decided to listen to it. I'm not a big fan of military fiction that isn't sci-fi, but I enjoyed the book.

A good continuation
Revisado: 06-13-21
This book is as good as the first. Together, they make up a decent length for an audio book, but too short separately. Just like the first, I liked the author's style of not having to explain every little detail. It is well written and fun to listen to. The author did a great job of giving us enough to know what's going on, but kept a few things mysterious, without sacrificing the storyline.
