Historia
Set in Italy during World War II, this is the story of the incomparable, malingering bombardier Yossarian, a hero who is furious because thousands of people he has never met are trying to kill him. But his real problem is not the enemy - it is his own army, which keeps increasing the number of missions the men must fly to complete their service. Yet if Yossarian makes any attempt to excuse himself from the perilous missions he's assigned, he'll be in violation of Catch-22.

Historia
Chip Chinery's memoir is a look in front of and behind the curtain at what actually happened his first year as a full-time professional stand-up comedian during the ‘80s comedy boom. Chip kept a journal and snapped pictures at every gig. Some of the comics were or would become household names. Most would remain unsung. Then there was his 17-year-old opening act who would reach the pinnacle of stand-up fame and fortune.

A must-read for new performers
Revisado: 02-27-23
I started my acting career about the same time as Chip. Even though we never worked together, his story is so relatable. He tells his journey with a positive, upbeat heart, but doesn't sugarcoat the hard work and financial balancing act it takes to be a professional.
I'm glad he read his own story. It feels genuine.
I wish I had kept a journal like Chip.

Great Story
Revisado: 08-19-22
Wow, what a well told story. I've worked in the Hollywood show business for 30+ years but and thought I knew how the TV/movie industry works but this book made early Hollywood come alive for me. I loved the writing.
I wasn't sure about 3 narrators reading this story but it works seamlessly.

Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

I couldn't stop listening
Revisado: 07-27-22
When I saw that the audiobook was 15+ hours, I thought I would have a hard time finishing it. I couldn't stop listening. I finished it in a couple days.
A big part of what I liked was Will Paton's performance. All of the characters were so distinct and 3 dimensional it was like watching a movie, although, I tried to watch the Mini series and the audio book is way better.

What an interesting life!
Revisado: 12-11-21
II didn't know anything about Charlie Band before I read the book. I was surprised to find out that I had seen some of his movies over the years. He has had a pretty amazing career. I have a feeling his life story would make a great movie also. Adam Felber did a good job piecing together a life that is all over the map.
I was a little confused when the narrator switched from Charlie to Sean Patrick Hopkins and then back to Charlie. Not a big issue but worth mentioning.

Historia
People start dropping dead around Charlie, giant ravens perch on his building, and it seems that everywhere he goes, a dark presence whispers to him from under the streets. Strange names start appearing on his nightstand notepad, and before he knows it, those people end up dead, too. Yup, it seems that Charlie Asher has been recruited for a new job, an unpleasant but utterly necessary one: Death.

Another good book by Moore
Revisado: 11-10-21
I listened to Moore's book, "Second Hand Souls" first, not realizing that "A Dirty Job" sets it up. It still worked for me. Moore has a creative and slightly demented world view that is fascinating. Fisher Stevens' storytelling and character work is just great. I binge listened to it.

Something really strange is happening in the City by the Bay. People are dying, but their souls are not being collected. Someone - or something - is stealing them. No one knows where they are going or why, but it has something to do with that big orange bridge. Death merchant Charlie Asher is just as flummoxed as everyone else.

Hang in there
Revisado: 11-04-21
First, I need to say that I really enjoyed the world that Christopher Moore created. Having said that, I'll admit that I almost gave up after the 1st two chapters. It took me a bit to buy into this reality but by chapter 3, I was on board and the story took off. I was in hook, line, and sinker.
Moore's characters are well drawn and believable. Fisher Steven's did a great job telling the story and his character work is top notch.

Griping
Revisado: 10-12-21
Tigner's attention to the technical details of the story makes every crazy thing Achilles does seem possible. The love sub plot is not heavy handed and rings true.
Dick Hill is fine storyteller but his voice seems a bit too old for Achilles and his vocal placement and pitch often made the heroine seem weak, while the writing doesn't.
This book is well worth your time. I won't be surprised if it ends up a big budget movie.
