Historia
Eastern Europe has long been thought of as the "Other Europe", a region rife with political upheaval, shifting national borders, an astonishing variety of ethnic diversity, and relative isolation from the centers of power in the West. It has also been, and continues to be, pivotal in the course of world events. A History of Eastern Europe offers a sweeping 1,000-year tour with a particular focus on the region's modern history.

excellent synopsis of philosophers from antiquity
Revisado: 03-24-19
Truly excellent. Would have given the book a five, as Mr Shapiro, one of today's most talented writers and commentators obviously spent a great deal of energy and time researching and compending the relevant historical correlation of philosophical trends and history of civilization back to antiquity. I typically appreciate Ben's fast pace, however; this is the first time I needed to use the decrease pace function on Audible, to try to keep up with the information . The first eight chapters were largely a fast paced synopsis of philosophers and their pertinent theses, mostly diverging from the religious and spiritual past. I would have enjoyed it more if there was more time spent on actual historical events that changed with this. A little humor wouldn't have hurt, to make the book more personal rather than academic reading. The last few chapters were excellent,, I was sad to hear *conclusion " so soon, but it was truly heartfelt., even though I have no children. Will be a great reference on philosophers of the last two thousand plus years and understanding how we got here. Will anxiously awaiting the next book. Aristotle warned that everything was wrong with the next generation, and it seemed things turned out to be fine, but you never can be too careful. Thanks Ben, Best Regards G. Paul.

Historia
This unflinching account of one remarkable physician’s experiences during the conflict between Russia and its breakaway republic, Chechnya, is an instant classic of war literature. Weaving the history of the Chechnya conflict and the heritage of his own family into the visceral narrative, Dr. Baiev tells a tale that is shocking, heroic, and impossible to forget.
