Historia
Defense lawyer Andy Carpenter usually tries to avoid taking on new cases at all costs. But this time, he's happy - eager, even - to take the case that's just come his way. Andy's long-time friend Martha "Pups" Boyer takes in stray puppies that the local dog rescue center can't handle, raises them until they're old enough to adopt, and then finds good homes for them. Not everyone admires the work Pups does as much as Andy does, however.

Love the Andy Carpenter series, love the narrater!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes! I'm envious of those who have just found David Rosenfelt's Andy Carpenter series and have several books to enjoy. As for the rest of us, we have to impatiently wait for the next book.Best thing is, the author is a great writer AND a great person in real life that's devoted to rescuing dogs that most wouldn't adopt. Even his Facebook posts make me laugh. I'm a huge fan!
What did you like best about this story?
Love the self-depricating, quick witted Andy Carpenter and his fun characters (I do miss the "song talk" with Sam!).
What about Grover Gardner’s performance did you like?
Perfection. My favorite narrater. Excellent. You forget it's one person reading for all the characters.
Did you have an extreme reaction to this book? Did it make you laugh or cry?
I always laugh while listening to this series, and the touching moments are spot on.
Any additional comments?
I appreciate a good mystery with a dose of humor and the absence of unneeded gore or anything overly sad. I love good characters that don't all blend together, and a narrater that can bring it to life. This is all of that!

Historia
Few can rival attorney Andy Carpenter's affection for golden retrievers, especially his own beloved Tara. After he astonishes a New Jersey courtroom by successfully appealing another golden's death sentence, Andy discovers that this gentle dog is a key witness to a murder that took place five years before. Andy pushes the boundaries of the law even further as he struggles to free an innocent man by convincing an incredulous jury to take canine testimony seriously. It will take all the tricks Andy's fertile mind can conceive to get to the bottom of a remarkable chain of impersonations and murder, and to save a dog's life - and his own - in the process.

My favorite find of the year!

Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Absolutely! Don't you love it when you find a new author/series you like, and there are several books already published? I bought the first 2 in the Andy Carpenter series one at a time. The next three I purchased all at once. Excellent stories with an excellent narrator! Interesting characters, fresh story lines, and a healthy dose of humor. Great mystery and courtroom scenes and not unnecessarily graphic/sexual/profane. I download onto my Kindle and then listen to it over my car speakers. I find myself sitting in the car waiting for the chapter to end before I go in the house. Nice thing is my teen son will get in and ask me to catch him up on what he missed! Smart, funny, great court battles, and fast paced! I even bought one of the books so I could read it when I wasn't in the car to listen to it. :) I've never been compelled to write a review before, but this guy's good. As a past Patterson fan who gave up after several disappointments, I was so pleased to find this author!
Who was your favorite character and why?
Andy Carpenter (the main character) is my favorite. He's smart, funny, and has an easy self-deprecating sense of humor. I like that he comes across as a real person and not plastic/perfect/fearless/Greek God.
Have you listened to any of Grover Gardner’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
The narrator has also been my favorite. So good!
Any additional comments?
Don't hesitate to try this series. You won't be disappointed!
