Historia
State Road 177 runs along the Suwannee River, between Fargo, Georgia, and the Okefenokee Swamp. Drive that route from east to west, and you'll cross six bridges. Take it from west to east, and you might find seven. But you'd better hope not. Titus and Melanie Bell leave their hotel in Fargo for a second honeymoon canoeing the Okefenokee Swamp. But shortly before they reach their destination, they draw up to a halt at the edge of a rickety bridge with old stone pilings, with room for only one car....

Characters toward the end hard to understand
Revisado: 03-25-25
Overall a good story. Much better than the movie in many ways. The one thing I didn’t like was the narration of the characters that speak English as a a second language toward the end. Very hard to understand. I had to listen to some parts multiple times to get the gist of the conversation.

Historia
Mary is a quiet middle-aged woman doing her best to blend into the background. Unremarkable. Invisible. Unknown even to herself. But lately, things have been changing inside Mary. Along with the hot flashes and body aches, she can’t look in a mirror without passing out, and the voices in her head have been urging her to do unspeakable things. Fired from her job in New York, she moves back to her hometown hoping to reconnect with her past and inner self. What she finds instead are visions of terrifying mutilated specters that come with increasing regularity.

This might be my new favorite book
Revisado: 01-14-25
The end was a bit drawn out but overall I really enjoyed it. I feel for Mary just as ai did for Carrie all those years ago when I picked up my first Stephen King book. Don’t skip the foreword and afterword by the author, good stuff. Thanks Nat, as a middle aged woman, I think you get it as much as any man can “get it”. Fantastic book and wonderful narration!

Interesting real crime story
Revisado: 09-22-24
This cautionary story had me hooked from the beginning. It’s easy to follow and the narrator (real victim) did a fantastic job telling her story. The only negative for me was the background sounds and music. At times it was distracting and unnecessary imo

Historia
The Grand Hotel is a horror novel by esteemed best-selling author Scott Kenemore ( Zombie, Ohio) that takes the reader on a thrilling ride through an interconnected series of stories narrated by the desk clerk and the residents of the hotel itself. And while it is not known whether or not the desk clerk is actually the devil incarnate, it is strange that so many visitors who come for a tour of the hotel have a way of never leaving.

I’m not sure how I’ve missed this one until now
Revisado: 09-19-24
I’m usually not a fan of short stories, but the way this uniquely winds everything into one is very creative. The narration is perfect. While I wouldn’t call this horror, it was definitely eerie and I wholeheartedly enjoyed every minute.

Historia
Its violent, sordid past is what draws best-selling author David Masters to the infamous Victorian mansion called Baudey House. Its shrouded history of madness and murder is just the inspiration he needs to write his ultimate masterpiece of horror. But what waits for David and his 16-year-old daughter, Amber, at Baudey House, is more terrifying than any legend.

This book was a waste of time and a credit
Revisado: 09-14-24
The characters are inadequately developed and two-dimensional, with laughable stereotypes for every female character. Then, there's the narrator's childlike, nasally tone, which made it even harder to get through. The most disappointing aspect is that the only interesting character, Eric, isn’t fully explored. He was the sole reason I continued listening. While there are a few intriguing moments, I suspect it’s the sexual content that appeals to those giving the book high ratings. Overall, this feels like a poorly written young adult ghost story with sex and gore added in to compensate for a dull plot and bad writing.

Historia
It’s the house of their dreams. Former marine Harry and his wife, Sasha, have packed up their life and their golden retriever, Dash, and fled the corporate rat race to live off the land in rural Idaho. Their breathtaking new home sits on more than forty acres of meadow, aspen trees, and pine forest in the Teton Valley. Even if their friends and family think it’s a strange choice for an up-and-coming pair of urban professionals, Harry and Sasha couldn’t be happier about the future they’re building, all by their lonesome.

This may be the best audio book I’ve listened to
Revisado: 03-12-24
I have an extremely short attention span and if a book doesn’t grab me pretty quick, I usually end up upping the speed on it and forcing myself to get through, whether I like it or not. This book hooked me very early on and I’ve had a hard time turning it off at times. Finished it today and I can say this, it is one of the best audiobooks I’ve listened to. I wanted more, that’s the only negative I’ve got for it.

Historia
The year is 1348. Thomas, a disgraced knight, has found a young girl alone in a dead Norman village. An orphan of the Black Death, and an almost unnerving picture of innocence, she tells Thomas that plague is only part of a larger cataclysm - that the fallen angels under Lucifer are rising in a second war on heaven, and that the world of men has fallen behind the lines of conflict. Is it delirium or is it faith? She believes she has seen the angels of God. She believes the righteous dead speak to her in dreams. And now she has convinced the faithless Thomas to shepherd her across a depraved landscape to Avignon.

This book challenged me to think outside of my comfort zone. That’s a good thing. Heartbreakingly beautiful at times. Kept me up at night.
Author narration is almost always a home run for me since the author knows what tone to use and when.
I have a feeling I will be listening to parts of this book again and again.

Historia
Ghosts don't exist in our world of today. Life is too pragmatic, too consuming, too busy for past lives to linger on longer than their allotted time, or so Halcyon had believed, until she received a letter from a lawyer claiming that her mother, whom she had thought long dead, had actually been living in another part of the country since Halcyon's early childhood. She had only recently passed away, leaving Halcyon heir to an unexpected fortune and an estate on an isolated island in the middle of the Great Lakes.
