Historia
Gianni Russo was a handsome 25-year-old mobster with no acting experience when he walked onto the set of The Godfather and entered Hollywood history. He played Carlo Rizzi, and he didn't have to act - he knew the mob inside and out: from his childhood in Little Italy, where Mafia legend Frank Costello took him under his wing, to having to go on the lam after shooting and killing a member of the Colombian drug cartel in his Vegas club. Along the way, Russo befriended Frank Sinatra and Marlon Brando. Russo had passionate affairs with Marilyn Monroe and Liza Minelli....

Better than I anticipated...
Revisado: 10-27-22
I can't remember what I was expecting but by completion of this title I was blown away. Sure, you've gotta read between the lines a bit and have a salt shaker handy, but the Author's stories throughout his life are incredibly entertaining. I'm inspired to re-watch not only the Classic Godfather movies but also look up some other Gianni Russo films.

Historia
Sometimes you slip through the cracks: unforeseen circumstances like an abrupt illness, the death of a loved one, a breakup, or a job loss can derail a life. These periods of dislocation can be lonely and unexpected. For May, her husband fell ill, her son stopped attending school, and her own medical issues led her to leave a demanding job. Wintering explores how she not only endured this painful time, but embraced the singular opportunities it offered. Ultimately Wintering invites us to change how we relate to our own fallow times.

it's OK to not be ok

I loved every chapter. It made me feel like I'm not failing when I'm struggling, and everyone goes through sunny seasons and cold, brutal, gray seasons. The reader had a wonderful, easy to listen to performance as well.

The story is decent, though the ending was anticlimactic. The performance was comically exaggerated, with hilarious impersonations of male voices and over the top dramatization of female characters.

Historia
I’ve been in this life for fifty years, been trying to work out its riddle for forty-two, and been keeping diaries of clues to that riddle for the last thirty-five. Notes about successes and failures, joys and sorrows, things that made me marvel, and things that made me laugh out loud. How to be fair. How to have less stress. How to have fun. How to hurt people less. How to get hurt less. How to be a good man. How to have meaning in life. How to be more me. Recently, I worked up the courage to sit down with those diaries.

I was skeptical...
Revisado: 09-05-21
I'm not necessarily a Matthew McConaughey fan, nor am I an anti-fan. Just thought he was a pretty good actor and a chill character in life. I honestly bought this audiobook because it was first on my screen. However, this is an excellent book and it's made better by the performance of the subject. It's full of not only the stories that created his life but also lessons, philosophies, and anecdotes. I'm better for having read it.

Excellent mystery!
Revisado: 11-23-20
I loved the twists and turns in this book. I'm usually able to figure out what's going on way before the reveal, but not this time. The suspense had me unable to stop listening.
