Historia
David Ben-Gurion cast a great shadow during his lifetime, and his legacy continues to be sharply debated to this day. There have been many books written about the life and accomplishments of the Zionist icon and founder of modern Israel, but this new biography by eminent Israeli historian Anita Shapira strives to get to the core of the complex man who would become the face of the new Jewish nation. Shapira tells the Ben-Gurion story anew, focusing especially on the period after 1948, during the first years of statehood.

Comprehensive but not detailed enough
Revisado: 10-10-24
Comprehensive yet not detailed as I would have expected approaching the life of one of the major figures of Israel. I missed the most was the way he was thinking and approaching problems and major difficulties in politics and at war as well as at times of peace. It fills it as if this book is quite superficial and reading. Wikipedia would overlap 50% off the text presented in this book yet I didn’t find any other books in Audible about the life of Ben Gurion.

Start-Up Nation addresses the trillion dollar question: How is it that Israel - a country of 7.1 million, only 60 years old, surrounded by enemies, in a constant state of war since its founding, with no natural resources - produces more start-up companies than large, peaceful, and stable nations like Japan, China, India, Korea, Canada, and the UK?

I enjoyed listening more than twice, it is comprehensive and motivating book well written and almost complete. I believe there are more reasons for the Israeli hi tech scene lasting bloom but as above, most are covered in this wonderful book.

Historia
Warren Buffett has repeatedly acknowledged Benjamin Graham, a man he personally studied and worked under, as the primary influence on his investment approach. Indeed, there is a direct line between the record-shattering investing performance of Buffett (and other value investors) and Graham's life. In six books and dozens of papers, Graham—widely known as the "Dean of Wall Street"—left an extensive account of an investing system that, as Buffett can attest to, actually works!

Historia
Maverick thinker Nassim Nicholas Taleb had an illustrious career on Wall Street before turning his focus to his black swan theory. Not all swans are white, and not all events, no matter what the experts think, are predictable. Taleb shows that black swans, like 9/11, cannot be foreseen and have an immeasurable impact on the world.

Way way too long
Revisado: 12-22-21
The book can be summarized in a short booklet.
It is expanded over hours of audiobook with numerous branches exiting the main idea which as above is extremely simple. You can not anticipate the unknown and the unexpected is more important than the expected.
Several chapters stray from the main idea significantly and appear detached, others contribute minimally. I would not return to the book.

Too detailed and cumbersome

Now after I have listened to the book about Steve Jobs I understand how a true biography should sound like. True, real and filled with healthy criticism. This book sounds realistic but it is simply too long and busy with the smallest details.
