Historia
Fumio Sasaki is not an enlightened minimalism expert or organizing guru like Marie Kondo - he's just a regular guy who was stressed out and constantly comparing himself to others, until one day he decided to change his life by saying goodbye to everything he didn't absolutely need. The effects were remarkable: Sasaki gained true freedom, new focus, and a real sense of gratitude for everything around him.

Thank You, Sasaki-Kan!
Revisado: 07-24-21
Sasaki provides insight and a comprehensive guide to minimizing possessions. When he said to throw something away now, I paused the book and actually threw stuff out.
I look forward to the space and inner healing in the works.

Historia
More than 40 years after President Johnson signed the landmark Fair Housing Act into law, residential segregation in America remains unresolved. Designed to help dismantle the nation’s racially divided housing patterns, the act has gone largely ignored by every presidential administration - Democrat and Republican alike - since 1968. In Living Apart, ProPublica investigates this failing.

Eye-opening and informative
Revisado: 05-26-21
I found this book to be eye-opening and informative with regards to bias and housing within the United States. I am familiar with the work of the author, primarily the 1619 Project. In my opinion this book works well in tandem with that project.

This is the 2nd novel I’d read by Kate Noble and I’m hooked! I tried her books after being disappointed by Julia Quinn’s The Duke and I.

Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

A Little Too Sugary
Revisado: 11-10-20
The ending was a little too sweet for me as I prefer a more realistic approach. (Yes, I am aware of the irony in that statement.)

Historia
How did Fidel Castro fool the CIA for a generation? Why did Neville Chamberlain think he could trust Adolf Hitler? Why are campus sexual assaults on the rise? Do television sitcoms teach us something about the way we relate to each other that isn't true? While tackling these questions, Malcolm Gladwell was not solely writing a book for the page. He was also producing for the ear. In the audiobook version of Talking to Strangers, you’ll hear the voices of people he interviewed - scientists, criminologists, military psychologists.

Thought-provoking
Revisado: 09-23-20
A friend suggested this book and I am so grateful! Gladwell poses thought-provoking questions that cannot be superficially answered. I recommend this book; read it slowly and let the content sink in.

Historia
This near-future political satire about the election of a new president argues that socialism and populism will eventually give rise to chaos and disaster.
Authored by Ingersoll Lockwood - around whom conspiracy theories concerning the sci-fi/fantasy character Baron Trump now abound - 1900, Or: The Last President is notable for both its clairvoyance and its reflection on the social movements and political climate of its time.

Historia
Baron Trump's Marvelous Underground Journey by Ingersoll Lockwood was published in 1893. The novel recounts the adventures of the German boy Wilhelm Heinrich Sebastian Von Troomp, who goes by the name "Baron Trump", and his dog Bulger, as they discover fantastic underground civilizations, offend the natives, escape from their involvements, and repeat this pattern until arriving back home at Castle Trump.

Conspiracy Theory?
Revisado: 07-20-20
Perhaps. The best part of this novel is the narrator, Molly Mae, who does an excellent job performing various voices. I find that the plot built up to an underwhelming ending: Little Baron returns home safely and unchanged from his journey.
There is zero character growth and an anticlimactic ending. I plan to exchange this book for something else.

Terrible Writing
Revisado: 02-19-20
The writing is vague where it ought to be detailed and verbose when fewer words would be better. I wonder if the author ever had heterosexual sex because many of the details are unrealistic...such as Christian speaking in full sentences during penetration. And how many times is the phrase "inner goddess" mentioned? (Too many to count!) How E. L. James had several books published is beyond me.
