Is this dry? Yes. Is the narrator’s voice a bit subdued? Yes…BUT! It was well worth it! I feel like my little circle of knowledge has grown. I found myself shaking my head(in agreement) at the logical arguments made in this book. I strongly suggest a listen/read.

Historia
No discussion of great modern authors is complete without mention of Cormac McCarthy, whose rare and blazing talent makes his every work a true literary event. A grand addition to the American literary canon, Suttree introduces readers to Cornelius Suttree, a man who abandons his affluent family to live among a dissolute array of vagabonds along the Tennessee river.

Well Done
Revisado: 05-26-23
Highly descriptive, raw look into “the good ole days”. It was a vivid picture into the life of a two time looser in 1951 Tennessee. If you want to hear about the seedy underbelly of life on the river then this book is for you. Unending descriptions of decay, indecency, corruption, violence and loss that seem to repeat themselves over and over. There were a few times I asked myself why I was listening but overall It was an excellent book. I was fully transported into the time and place where every scene took place. It made me appreciate the time I live in so much more.

Solid Enjoyable Book
Revisado: 05-16-23
I usually like to take a break from heavier stuff. This was a fun book with good narration and production value. A bit goofy at times but ultimately we’ll done. I had to take a 6 hour ride with the family in tow and this was just the thing I needed. Definitely recommended.

It was included with my subscription so I decided to take a chance and wasn’t disappointed! Try it! I assure you that you will not be disappointed.

Historia
A disturbing tale of a young man's uncanny ability to remain both young and beautiful while descending into a life of heartless debauchery, The Picture of Dorian Gray was considered proof of both Wilde's genius and his perversion. Oscar Wilde's scandalous best seller of 1891 was one of the most damning pieces of evidence used against him in the trial that brought about his downfall.

Historia
Narrator Dan Stevens ( Downton Abbey) presents an uncanny performance of Mary Shelley's timeless gothic novel, an epic battle between man and monster at its greatest literary pitch. In trying to create life, the young student Victor Frankenstein unleashes forces beyond his control, setting into motion a long and tragic chain of events that brings Victor to the very brink of madness. How he tries to destroy his creation, as it destroys everything Victor loves, is a powerful story of love, friendship, scientific hubris, and horror.

Historia
In Made in China, investigative journalist Amelia Pang pulls back the curtain. What she reveals is a closely guarded network of laogai - forced labor camps - that power the rapid pace of American consumerism. Through extensive interviews and firsthand reportage, Pang shows us the true cost of America’s cheap goods and shares what is ultimately a call to action - urging us to ask more questions and demand more answers from the companies we patronize.

Revisado: 03-20-21
This is a good book that will open your eyes to horrible injustices in China that have taking place over the past 25 years. In particular the forced labor camps that have been pumping out enormous quantities of cheap goods for sale worldwide. After listening to this book (and nearly impossible to accomplish) I will do my best to avoid products made in China.

Historia
In 2012, an Oregon mother named Julie Keith opened up a package of Halloween decorations. The cheap foam headstones had been five dollars at Kmart, too good a deal to pass up. But when she opened the box, something shocking fell out: an SOS letter, handwritten in broken English.

This is a well written and preformed audio book about a country that most Westerners have no clue about. If you want to understand Communist China and the way technology and money are changing the way WE think then this is a great way to spend a credit.
