Historia
When you’re acquired by private equity, the first 100 days are critical. You need to grow revenue faster, be more profitable, and integrate additional companies, all while getting buy-in from investors. In this environment, ramping up your sales pipeline is a major component of meeting board expectations. In Post-Acquisition Marketing, Shiv Narayanan reveals how PE-backed companies can leverage marketing to scale faster and deliver on the investment thesis.

Decent High-Level Book for Non-Marketing Founders
Revisado: 08-04-23
I'll start by saying I am a huge fan of Shiv, and in my opinion he is one of the best minds in B2B / start-up marketing, specifically from a strategic stand-point. He has a great way of taking large and complex concepts and breaking them down into bite size, digestible content that is high in Vitamin V (value).
Shiv's LinkedIn content is vastly superior in value to almost everyone else I follow, and I have a fairly robust marketing network.
I was excited to get this book for some insider tips and a deeper dive into post-acquisition marketing. To be fair, there are a few gems in this book, but unfortunately it mostly serves as a primer for Shiv's newsletter content and lacks the deep insights one hopes to typically gain from reading a book, even a short one.
Shiv is full of knowledge, unfortunately most of it is not in this book.
I would recommend this as a fast read for start-up founders and marketers new to the start-up world. If you are an experienced start-up marketer there will be little additional value here for you.
Hoping for a much meatier follow up in the future.

The Infinite Game

Historia
Finite games, like football or chess, have known players, fixed rules, and a clear endpoint. The winners and losers are easily identified. Infinite games, games with no finish line, like business or politics, or life itself, have players who come and go. The rules of an infinite game are changeable, while infinite games have no defined endpoint. There are no winners or losers - only ahead and behind. The question is, how do we play to succeed in the game we’re in? In this revelatory new audiobook, Simon Sinek offers a framework for leading with an infinite mindset.

Interesting Concept - Most of The Content Nonsense
Revisado: 12-20-21
This book was highly recommended in an executive leadership training course. I enjoyed Start With Why and have read a variety of business leadership books. In this book Sinek tried hard to be edgy, idealistic and appeal to a "new" demographic of young leadership. But, as others have pointed out, the book is full of cherry picked examples to proudly support Sinek's points. Halfway through the book, and after hearing several fundamentally incorrect assumptions, Sinek makes, I struggled to keep going. The concept of finite vs infinite games is definitely a very interesting strategic topic, but this book doesn't deliver much value. This book is the business equivalent of clearance section romance novels.

Excellent Read for Everyone With a Brain
Revisado: 12-19-21
In this great, short, easy to follow book Tim jumps into many reasons for why people do the things they do. The book covers a variety of topics in depth with lots of examples. Tim reads the audiobook himself which adds a layer of both fun and passion. I enjoyed this book quite a bit, and felt it had tremendous value - including some interesting key takeaways I will be applying in my life and work.

Great new book for b2b marketing and sales people.
Revisado: 11-23-20
Recently started reading this book as a joint effort between our sales and marketing teams to 1. align on our communication process and 2. set common ground between our teams. This is the third book we are doing as a team, and the first one that feels like it resonates equally well between both teams. This book is a fairly quick read, which I finished over the course of one weekend. The narration was great, Jim has a calming voice and speaks about his book with passion. Believe it or not, I reached out to Jim to let him know about our team reading the book and he offered some time to MEET with us and talk through some of the contents of this book. This is a first in my career, and speaks volumes to not only how passionate Jim is about his work, but also his commitment to practicing what he preaches in the book - that building value and engaging in meaningful conversations is the pinnacle of modern marketing and sales techniques. Highly recommend this book that's jam packed with practical, valuable advice for sales and marketing team. Also encourage you to read this cross-departmentally because your voice and approach should be unified, which is what this book aims to help with.
