Historia
In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

Very charming storytelling hides some tough stuff
Revisado: 01-30-22
Great to hear it from Noah’s mouth. Engaging and warm enough that you can *almost* forget the horrors he is talking about.

Historia
In a remote Polish village, Janina devotes the dark winter days to studying astrology, translating the poetry of William Blake, and taking care of the summer homes of wealthy Warsaw residents. Her reputation as a crank and a recluse is amplified by her not-so-secret preference for the company of animals over humans. Then, a neighbor, Big Foot, turns up dead. Soon, other bodies are discovered, in increasingly strange circumstances. As suspicions mount, Janina inserts herself into the investigation, certain that she knows whodunit. If only anyone would pay her mind....

Unlistenable - reader’s pace unbearable
Revisado: 12-22-20
No. Just no. This may be a great book? But who knows because the reader reads sooooo slowly I couldn’t listen.

Historia
The technological marvel of its age, the Erie Canal grew out of a sudden fit of inspiration. Proponents didn't just dream; they built a 360-mile waterway entirely by hand and largely through wilderness. As excitement crackled down its length, the canal became the scene of the most striking outburst of imagination in American history. Zealots invented new religions and new modes of living. The Erie Canal made New York the financial capital of America and brought the modern world crashing into the frontier.

Clearly two different books
Revisado: 03-27-19
One on Erie Canal, one on Mormonism and other upstart religions of the time. Both interesting books, but the jumping back and forth detracts somewhat from ones comprehension. No editors left at st martins press?
