Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Why all the good reviews?
Revisado: 12-17-18
This story was totally unbelievable. A young girl abandoned by her entire family survives on her own in the marsh. Even more incredible, although she can't read and doesn't have any friends, she knows the names of all the birds and plants in the marsh, and even what part of the bird each feather comes from. Something a trained ornithologist probably couldn't do. I kept listening thinking A, because maybe something changed to make everyone love the story but it never did and B, to find out who dunnit.

I can't say if this is a good book or not. Within about 30 minutes I had to quit listening because the narrator was so bad.

Historia
Ten-year-old Patrick O'Brien is a natural target at school. Shy, dyslexic, and small for his age, he tries to hide his first-grade reading level from everyone: from his classmates, from the grandfather who cares for him, and from the teachers who are supposed to help him. But the real trouble begins when Patrick is accused of attacking a school aide. The aide promptly quits and sues the boy, his family, and the school district. Patrick's grandfather turns to the law firm of Rosato & DiNunzio for help, and Mary DiNunzio is on the case.

Thats what I kept telling myself throughout this entire story. The actions were mostly unbelievable and Mary's reactions were juvenile.

Historia
Fresh from a brief stay at a psych hospital, reporter Camille Preaker faces a troubling assignment: She must return to her tiny hometown to cover the murders of two preteen girls. For years, Camille has hardly spoken to her neurotic, hypochondriac mother or to the half-sister she barely knows: a beautiful 13-year-old with an eerie grip on the town. Now, installed in her old bedroom in her family's Victorian mansion, Camille finds herself identifying with the young victims - a bit too strongly.

Revisado: 09-11-18
I've been seeing they rave reviews for this for years and finally decided to give it a try. I couldn't get through it. I'll just have to accept that Gillian Flynn isn't for me since I didn't like Gone Girl much either.

Kept me interested
Revisado: 09-11-18
I enjoyed listening to this book. I wish parts of had more detail. It seemed to skip right over lots of things. Very little mention of how grueling it must have been, more like a walk in the park. But a good story.

Not one of Karin Slaughter's best
Revisado: 09-11-18
Way too much internal dialogue and not enough action. And the "heroine" was such a whiny, indecisive, doormat. Definitely not a story that would bring me back for more. Fortunately I know Karin can do better.

Historia
It's 1934. Businesses went under by the hundreds, debt and foreclosures boomed, and breadlines grew in many American cities. In the midst of this misery, some folks explored unscrupulous ways to make money. Angel-faced John Partlow and carnival huckster Ginger LaFrance are among the worst of this lot. Joining together they leave their small-time confidence scams behind to attempt an elaborate kidnapping-for-ransom scheme in New Orleans.

Too much violence for me.
Revisado: 06-26-18
With one little blip at the beginning this started out as good story. But then it just seemed to be violent act after violent act. It seemed the entire last part of the story was people getting killed, beaten, shot, stabbed, tortured. I'm not a prude but it was too much for me.

Historia
It was a typical evening at a mall outside Portland, Maine. Three teenage friends waited for the movie to start. A boy flirted with the girl selling sunglasses. Mothers and children shopped together, and the manager at the video game store tended to customers. Then the shooters arrived. The chaos and carnage lasted only eight minutes before the killers were taken down. But for those who lived through it, the effects would last forever.

Predictable and Bland
Revisado: 06-25-18
This is the most predictable story I've ever heard. Every situation was solved to the good of the hero's and in record time. The main characters were all sickly sweet and any little conflict was settled quickly and for the good of all. Nora's writing is usually better than this. I would give this one a pass.

I guess I've moved on from Eve.
Revisado: 04-17-18
I used to really enjoy this series but either I've changed or Eve has. I've been struggling with the last few books and I didn't even finish this one. I could list lots of reasons but since they mostly have to do with me I'll just stick to a few. 1- For someone so intelligent Eve can be pretty stupid at times. She couldn't figure out the seasons on the the other side of the world? And she worries about how the waffle iron got it's name? 2- She seems to be rude for no reason now. There are too many examples of this to list. 3 - Why is she so angry all the time? I can be grumpy but I get tired of people who take it to an extreme.
So, I'll give up on Eve but will keep reading Nora.
