Two beautiful young women, doctors both, and best of there best each, glide into a relationship like a pianist’s hands into silk gloves. That they are surgeons is largely irrelevant. There are a couple of glitches though. The younger one is straight and she has a long-time boyfriend, Henry, back in Texas. So, halt. Will it be Galen or Henry? There lovely flow of a sexy coming together pauses till this can be worked out. It is worked out. End of story. Kind of flat. We never see where the relationship or their careers are heading. Pity.

Meet Kelsey and Joy, high school classmates and swim team members. They got as far as holding hands once. Flash forward ten years. They meet again in the small town of Rosita by the water, now one an optician and the other a software sales person. Kelsey is by her own admission “a mess” after every abortive attempt to make a connection, And I’d have to agree. Then there’s the deceit and lying about a drug problem. In fact, the author seems more fascinated by the interaction of drug problems on romantic relationship than On the relationships themselves. Then meet Kelsey’s ex-lover, a full blown total suicidal drug head, willing to take anything. Joy seems to have this limitless patience with all of this that is difficult to understand. Yes, they’re together at the end, but just barely.

This is good high school level work. The author and Ms.Prince have conspired to weave a story that’s essentially flat, devoid of any surprises or earned emotional highs or lows. Both ladies are attractive—earth-mother Jess and newly encountering herself, Natalie. Their coming together is a given since they are the only two unattached women on the Farm, but the attraction lacks any nuance and both women have difficulty articulating their feelings. Grandma, around whom the plot revolves, is Never flushed out as a character, robbing the climactic scene of much of its drama. One character you really do get attached to is Esmerelda. All ends well.

This is a refreshing story. Instead of all those ones where two ladies eye each other across a room and are instantly hooked, then having to spend the rest of the Story trying to get out of their own way. Ainsley is a delightful, opinionated, outspoken, and clumsy College student, groomed to be the political world’s chosen one. Her faux pas and internal monologues are really funny. What’s great about the relationship with Maya is that they meet, have a few awkward interactions, then some more sustained interactions. In other words you get to actually see them develop their relationship, which does not come easy. The plot revolves around high level political scheming and its resolution is suspenseful and gratifying. I only wish the Story went on longer.

These are nice characters. The two ladies Fall in love instantly and after several days pledge that the will stay with their partner forever. Of course what follows is a breakup as abrupt and unexplained as their love. In the background the wife of her lovely nextdoor neighbor who is serving in Afghanistan is killed on Christmas Eve. Of course, it ends up happily ever after except for the next door neighbor. There is no plot to speak of. If you just like spending time with nice people on a bad day, then this book is for you.

This ambitious tale tried to blend bringing a drug cartel to justice and a new love in a blended family. The result is a crime story that lacks distinctive details to make it thrilling. It seems odd that when making final battle with the kingpin neither detective thinks to protect their family in advance adding another plot to the story. While the two detectives come to acknowledge that they love each other, their relationship is never fleshed out and there is none of that casual and ordinary dialogue where they reveal who they are and exactly how they enjoy each other. There is an obligatory sex scene at the end that falls kind of flat. I think this would have been a better book if the author had picked one story or the other to fully characterize. As it is , both stories seen somewhat lacking.

Two compelling characters in rigid Ryan, prosecutor, and empathetic defense attorney, Brett. The author crafts a marvellously twisting plot that builds to a perilous conclusion. She neatly builds a blossoming love between two unlikely lovers. This is great story telling and two delicious characters. Well done!

The author has created two strong female characters in Rose and Ash, an unflappable business consultant and an extremely talented but hurting film director. The Story of Ash’s catastrophic accident and resulting inability to work and residual sexual dysfunction is sensitively and grippingly handled. Rose’s private life as an ASMR Artist is fully erotically realized with Lori Prince’s talented narration. The dialogue is delicious and the plot suspenseful. Rose’s three nutty sisters and Ash’s sidekick, Emma, add To the enjoyment. Each chapter ends with a punch and you wish i the were just a little longer so you could savor them more.

This is a strange book. About 20% of it consists of text messages. 70% is baleful internal monologue. The Main characters, Rhodes and Illiona, are struggling art students suffering from artists’ block s as they compete for a distinguished art prize. Both are afflicted with demons created by their parents and socioeconomic situation. The Problem With the Book is that forward progress towards Love or relationship is glacial. The looming internal monologues are mostly bitter. The only happy moment occurs On the Last page. This is a slog that wasn’t worth it.

Among Lesbian rom com books Monica McCallan stands out for digging into deeper layers of life’s common woes. It is a successful gimmick to have the two women, Nora and Gray, the top two producers for a new real estate company., be forced to meet at an all expenses paid trip to Bermuda. The Hurricane experience is unexpected and moving. The Two women On the surface are very different—light-hearted, smiley, extroverted Gray and the ice lady, Nora. It is striking and true that similar stories of parental neglect and dysfunctional relationships are responsible for both manifestations. The common issue for both is , Can she let the other in, really in, or will she maintain a distance to be safe and keep her pride in tact. We all face this issue with varying degrees of success. This is a good look at one relationship that almost didn’t work out. AS usual, Lori Prince as narrator does an excellent job of bringing these two women to life.
