Historia
For the airline executives finalizing a merger that would make news in the business world, the nine a.m. meeting would be a major milestone. But after marketing VP Paul Rogan walked into the plush conference room, strapped with explosives, the headlines told of death and destruction instead. The NYPSD’s Eve Dallas confirms that Rogan was cruelly coerced by two masked men holding his family hostage.

another winner

I love Susan Erickson's narration. And Robb did an excellent job as usual of crafting a decent drama nicely decorated with detaiks of the main character's ever-expanding personal life.

Historia
Harry Potter has never even heard of Hogwarts when the letters start dropping on the doormat at number four, Privet Drive. Addressed in green ink on yellowish parchment with a purple seal, they are swiftly confiscated by his grisly aunt and uncle. Then, on Harry's eleventh birthday, a great beetle-eyed giant of a man called Rubeus Hagrid bursts in with some astonishing news: Harry Potter is a wizard, and he has a place at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. An incredible adventure is about to begin!

Enjoyed it but..
Revisado: 08-04-20
The narrator struggled with the younger characters and as they're the core of the story it did take me a bit out of it.

Historia
Pursuing her dream to be a Harper of Pern, Menolly studies under the Masterharper and quickly learns that more is required than knowledge of music and a clever way with words. The Masterharper gives her a difficult time simply because she is a young woman, and she manages to alienate more of her fellow harpers than she makes friends. Menolly must rise up and prove that a woman is just as capable as any of her male fellow students - and if she can, she will shape the future of Pern.

Not happy
Revisado: 09-22-17
This is an abridged version. I know the book well and was very disappointed to find several passages abruptly shortened. And Adrienne Barbeau may be a fine actress but she's a terrible narrator.

Historia
In the world of Pern, Harpers are more powerful than kings, for the music they play can control the minds of others. For young Menolly, her dreams of becoming a Harper have nothing to do with power, but rather her love of music. But as the Hall's first female apprentice, Menolly must contend with the Master Harper who gives her a difficult time because of her gender. As Menolly begins to despair, she finds help in the shape of nine bright allies and learns that her musical talents may prove more powerful than anyone could imagine.

Nostalgic
Revisado: 12-27-16
I loved this book years ago, and this was a nice edition.
I would have made Enid's voice a bit more girly and Cinders' a bit more silly. Otherwise, very nice job by the narrator.
