Michael Thompson has created a wonderful, colorful, imaginative world in Winslow Hoffner's Incredible Encounters. Each chapter is an entertaining blend of characters and story centered around a different cryptid each time. Thompson's descriptions are detailed and thematic, and his narration of the tales makes them truly immersive. A well done collection!

I particularly enjoyed this book, but one thing always distracted me: many German words were translated. This is a book of Nazi Germany. It is the Third Reich, not the Third Empire. Grunenstrasse is Green Street, not Grunen Street, but should be left in German. Riechsfuhrer-SS is not Chief of Police, Unter den Linden should be called that, not Under the Lindens, etc.

I enjoyed the characters and the plot progressed well.

Carter & Lovecraft is an amazing story in the tradition of HPL. It is well written, has engaging characters, lots of philosophical and metaphysical questions, and the proper ratio of weird and real. One of the best new Lovecraftian tales I have ever read.

The Burrowers Beneath was the book that hooked me on the Cthulhu Mythos all those years ago. Not only is it a terrific story, it’s a great introduction to all things Cthulhu.

The Burrowers Beneath is written to more modern tastes than the work of Lovecraft and his correspondents, and offers something seriously lacking in the canon: the heroes have a chance.

I wholly recommend the audiobook. Simon Vance does an expert job conveying the distinctions between the various characters in Lumley’s masterpiece.

Deceit of Humanity is an engaging read with believable characters and a gripping plot. The protagonist, Silhouette, is three-dimensional and her thoughts and feelings are integral to the story. Her experiences are described in a real and believable manner. I am not a sci-fi enthusiast, but enjoyed this book. The integration of technology was seemless, believable, and not over-powering.

Zehra Jane Naqvi's accent adds a degree of exotic, other-worldliness to the presentation that enhances the experience.
