Full of useful tips & info, a bit long-winded in some sections
Revisado: 11-08-23
I really appreciated the wealth of information and encouragement toward breastfeeding and how ALL women should be able to succeed at it. There are numerous tips and tricks for a wide variety of situations that may come up during nursing that I’m sure I will be referencing once my baby is here. I will say, some parts were a bit repetitive and long-winded and I thought “ok, I get it. Can we move on to the next thing now?!” But overall the narrator was very good and the gems in this book are going to come in handy for me and any other moms-to-be who are new to the world of babies and nursing. Recommend it, but advise that you practice patience while listening/reading.

Very educational, comforting, and empowering
Revisado: 11-08-23
I learned so much about pregnancy through this book. It offers information on a wide range of topics and things to expect. It also gives you tips and tricks for those who prefer the more natural, less medicinal side of things (like myself) and those who prefer a more medical route. I really appreciated the non-bias there. There were even things I was unaware of about my own body as a woman that were never taught to me in school or by anyone that made so much sense. As a first time pregnant woman in my 2nd trimester, I am so thankful my husband found this audiobook for us to listen to in preparation for our new baby. Highly recommend!

Historia
Alicia Berenson’s life is seemingly perfect. A famous painter married to an in-demand fashion photographer, she lives in a grand house with big windows overlooking a park in one of London’s most desirable areas. One evening, her husband, Gabriel, returns home late from a fashion shoot, and Alicia shoots him five times in the face and then never speaks another word. Alicia’s refusal to talk, or give any kind of explanation, turns a domestic tragedy into something far grander, a mystery that captures the public imagination and casts Alicia into notoriety.

The narrators are great, story line and plot hold your attention well! Some twists and turns along the way have you wondering what is going on, though I did suspect one character off and on throughout. Really enjoyed this whodunnit/mind game story and am excited to check out more by this author!

Historia
For much of the 20th and 21st centuries, women’s sexuality was an uncharted territory in science, studied far less frequently - and far less seriously - than its male counterpart. That is, until Emily Nagoski’s Come As You Are, which used groundbreaking science and research to prove that the most important factor in creating and sustaining a sex life filled with confidence and joy is not what the parts are or how they’re organized but how you feel about them.

We are all made up of the same parts, just organized in unique ways
Revisado: 12-30-22
This book truly uncovers and bust myths, that we all assume are die hard truths from the time we become aware of sexuality. All the things that the media, sexual partners and how we were raised makes us feel we have to be in order to be normal, healthy, attractive to others, etc… are completely unraveled. I can walk away from this book with the truth resonating with me that I am normal and I am not broken. So many things that make complete sense and once you learn, the science of them seem so common sense that it will change your perspective and understanding on everything. I am forever, grateful that my friend shared this one with me, and I will be reading it again and again and sharing more points from it with my husband who has found the tidbits I’ve already shared very interesting and helpful!

Always an amazing story-teller
Revisado: 05-05-22
Daniel Wallace didn’t disappoint in his ability to hook me on yet another story! This one encapsulates a level of weirdness, awkward insecurities, and the mundaneness of life that is both relatable on every level and yet exaggerated enough to make one feel sane. The narrator made sure to give unique voices to each character and read in such a way that you felt you were there watching the story unfold. Love this book of misfits for misfits and anyone else who is never quite sure of themselves, or just plain human.

This was a fabulous story filled with funny/poignant/dark/sad memories about the author & his life. He is a very deep and beautiful hearted person who shares his life with us, the good and the bad. Brutally honest, beautifully narrated & leaves the reader/listener feeling happy, hopeful and inspired. Thank you, Flea!

Wonderfully written, beautifully narrated and a great insight into such a horrible and hateful part of history that should never be forgotten. Amazing to see so much humanity amongst people who were treated in the most vile and despicable ways. Love the epilogue, authors note and the note from the son of the Sokolovs.

Always excellent, exciting writing & thought provoking story
Revisado: 04-06-21
Every time I read one of Chuck Palahniuk’s novels or short stories I’m blown away by how real and yet unreal the ideas he presents are! Narrator was easy to listen to and had that deadpan, almost monotone voice that seems would be typical of a lot of the author’s characters who find themselves in turmoil of the mind/life. Loved it!
