Historia
When unforeseen circumstances during an innovative—and unsanctioned—commercial asteroid-mining mission leave two crew members stranded, those who make it back must engineer a rescue, all while navigating a shifting web of global political alliances and renewed Cold War tensions. With Earth governments consumed by the ravages of climate change and unable to take the risks necessary to make rapid progress in space, the crew must build their own next-gen spacecraft capable of mounting a rescue in time for the asteroid's next swing by Earth.

It continues the story but slowly...
Revisado: 06-27-23
Narrator did the best he could with the material. This storyline does not move as quickly as the first book and gets bogged down with the narrator having to read us volume/tonnage of materials they're trying to recover, then load, teaching us about establishing an off-world cryptocurrency, etc. Not particularly riveting subjects, probably better when reading the book where one could just skip ahead. I'm 17 hours in and doubt that the rescue mission will be launched by the end. Fingers crossed the third book will finally get us there.

Historia
Once upon a time, there lived a girl named Fallon who was taken far away from home shortly after she was born. A home that held more than strange traditions and bizarre superstitions. Twenty-four years later, she returned to Weeping Hollow, a town she'd only heard about in stories during restless nights under a marble moon, to take care of her last living relative.

Revisado: 10-15-22
Great narrator but the storyline just didn't jell with me. Far too much teenage angst, self-doubt, etc. More angst than the Twilight series. Audible's Return policy is a real gift to frequent readers and, with this book, I used it.

Just couldn't finish...
Revisado: 11-27-21
I made it through 4 hours but just couldn't make myself continue. The story extensively (and incomprehensibly) wanders through several points of view in a world that (4 hours in) still doesn't make sense. Between dragons, one surviving human, elves and mer-people, I just couldn't develop a mental storyline or the ability to care about any of them. I have hundreds of fantasy and sci-fi books in my library...this has to be one of the worst. So very sorry to have wasted a credit.

Unsympathetic Main Characters
Revisado: 11-02-21
While the overall premise was good, I found myself constantly talking back to the main characters about their stupidity. Whiny, weak, indecisive, etc. Frustrating listen with the "good" stuff only happening at the end. I don't care enough to go on to the second of the series.

Good Premise, But...
Revisado: 08-31-21
I was very intrigued by the synopsis. But, it could have been so much more. The performer delivered the storyline in a monotone...very little variation. I stuck through but it was a slog to finish. Overall, a depressing listen with the protagonist suffering at almost every turn.

Historia
The year is 1348. Thomas, a disgraced knight, has found a young girl alone in a dead Norman village. An orphan of the Black Death, and an almost unnerving picture of innocence, she tells Thomas that plague is only part of a larger cataclysm - that the fallen angels under Lucifer are rising in a second war on heaven, and that the world of men has fallen behind the lines of conflict. Is it delirium or is it faith? She believes she has seen the angels of God. She believes the righteous dead speak to her in dreams. And now she has convinced the faithless Thomas to shepherd her across a depraved landscape to Avignon.

Harrowing Listen
Revisado: 09-04-20
One earlier reviewer said this book was dark. Believe them. Well rounded characters but each one goes through his/her own hell several times. It is a listen that requires attention due to quick POV changes but, overall, I would listen to it again. Regarding the 3-stars for performance, the narrator has difficulty doing a believable female voice. Other than that, quite enjoyable.

Historia
Damina Nicaud, a beautiful, successful art buyer in Washington, DC, is plagued by hauntingly romantic dreams of a mystery man every night. While she knows she shouldn't consider her dreams to be anything more than anxiety brought on by her upcoming nuptials, she can't help but be lured into its entreat. Unbeknownst to her, the dreamscape that plagues her mind will be all that carries her through eventual heartbreak and learning the truth of her orphaned lineage.

Even 1.25xx Speed Couldn't Save It
Revisado: 08-22-20
Mildly interesting supernatural tale with vampires, wolves and a new category of superhuman. Filled with romantic angst and dominating men, 24 hours of it was just a little too much so I skipped the last 5 hours to finally just get to the end. The narrator had a pleasing voice but her pacing/phrasing was distracting. Worse, many words were mispronounced and her habit of "swallowing" the last syllable of some words ( one example, information (in-for-may-shun) was pronounced in-for-may-un) came across as just lazy diction. I did check out the Amazon review of the book before I used my credit but it may be a much better "read" than "listen." All in all, you have to decide but it wasn't my cup of tea.

Historia
The ancient magic of wizards was anything but dark. It was the enlightenment that lifted humanity from the squalor of superstition, and the worship of fell spirits and capricious gods, but those days are gone. The shining glory of the sorcerers burned away the subtlety of wisdom, replacing it with easy power, held only in the hands of the elite - a new age built upon the elemental supremacy of aristocrats and the ignorance of the masses.

Revisado: 08-19-20
I was very sorry to get to the end. A terrific story, lots of humor (Grandfather made me laugh out loud several times) and the MC was just as you would want. I was very disappointed, however, to find that Book 2 isn't yet on Audible so I will have to wait to continue my journey. Try it--you will enjoy!

What happened to OUR Julie?
Revisado: 08-21-19
I am a huge fan of the Monster Hunter International Series. I've listened to all the books at least three times. This new one, however, is a disappointment. The super strong, self possessed and ultimately rational Julie has devolved into a whiny, self doubting, angst-filled mother. The thing that brought me back to MHI time and time again was the self-depreciating/ironic humor that peppered each book. There was none of that to be found in this one. Too bad because the premise was great. Hopefully, the next installment will be back on track and I can laugh/smile myself through another 16 hours.
