Historia
Fourteen-year-old Reese’s dream of winning the Black Elk race is shattered when her beloved horse, Trusted Treasure, falls at the last jump, and the vet suggests they put him down. While still reeling from that loss, her family suffers a second tragedy—one that results in the end of their family business, the sale of Trusted Treasure, and irreparable damage to Reese’s relationship with her father.

As a horse lover I loved the story, but the trouble she caused became pretty pathetic.

Bold and raw coming of age story
Revisado: 04-17-25
Liked the story. Young adult fiction has such a wide range. Lots of foul language. But it suits the teen protagonist. I would say target audience would be 14+.
The reader does a good job. I very much want the editors to add just a few seconds between the chapters. One chapter concludes and without pause you hear “Chapter___” and then she continues on. This may seem trite. The story is good. The audio has some nice touches but feels lukewarm novel editors because they are inconsistent in their attention to transitions.

Historia
A brilliant and utterly original thinker, Andrew Solomon's journey began from his experience of being the gay child of straight parents. He wondered how other families accommodate children who have a variety of differences: families of people who are deaf, who are dwarfs, who have Down syndrome, who have autism, who have schizophrenia, who have multiple severe disabilities, who are prodigies, who commit crimes, who are transgender.

Eye opening. Raw. Human. Truths and experiences who lessons remain relevant as the book ages.

Historia
Most books about the history of humanity pursue either a historical or a biological approach, but Dr. Yuval Noah Harari breaks the mold with this highly original book. From examining the role evolving humans have played in the global ecosystem to charting the rise of empires, Sapiens integrates history and science to reconsider accepted narratives, connect past developments with contemporary concerns, and examine specific events within the context of larger ideas.

Opens a door I didn’t know was closed.
Revisado: 01-11-23
Paradigm shifting. I can’t stop thinking about how far we’ve come and where we may be going. And as a person of faith I find the implications confounding but also I am not threatened. I think the need to be spiritual is truly in our DNA and essential in our on going narrative. I have more contemplating to do… This one sticks with you.
