Mackenzie Allen Philips' youngest daughter, Missy, has been abducted during a family vacation and evidence that she may have been brutally murdered is found in an abandoned shack deep in the Oregon wilderness. Four years later in the midst of his Great Sadness, Mack receives a suspicious note, apparently from God, inviting him back to that shack for a weekend. Against his better judgment he arrives at the shack on a wintry afternoon and walks back into his darkest nightmare.

Absolutely the best book ever!

Would you consider the audio edition of The Shack to be better than the print version?
I prefer the audio version simply because I have a hard time reading and envisioning the scene in my mind. I lose focus easily while reading and I also forget what I read. I found that with audible I can finally enjoy the detail story line and also close my eyes and see the story being read. Finally a way for me to keep up with the Jones'
What other book might you compare The Shack to and why?
I don't have a comparison since I honestly haven't read any books of value in over 20 years. But I intend to begin reading (listening) to more books more often.
What does Roger Mueller bring to the story that you wouldn’t experience if you just read the book?
The enthusiasm and the ability to change character voices so you can distinguish between the rolls. I could feel what the writer was trying to portray just by the Mr. Mueller's tones. Incredible and emotional.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
Yes. I found the part where Mack realizes the real reason that Papa summoned him to the shack. To be able to have closure and to allow Missy a proper burial. I could feel the pain and the relief that a parent would feel put in that situation due to the fact that Mr. Mueller was able to capture that moment in such audible magnitude.
Any additional comments?
I would recommend this book to anyone who is struggling with the concept of a God, any God and need to understand where we are in the world and that we have a purpose. Great inspirational book. I gave this to my daughter who is struggling with God's love for her and the fact that God is not punishing her but trying to teach her lessons to become the person He intended her to be.

Where does House rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
In the top 5 of Horror/Thriller
What was one of the most memorable moments of House?
When all the characters in the book met each other's double and they were trying to figure out which were the good ones and which group was the evil ones. The scene was great!
What about Frank Peretti and Ted Dekker ’s performance did you like?
The change of their voices to suit the different characters in the story line
Who was the most memorable character of House and why?
I enjoy everyone of them because each character had a specific roll and the author did an excellent job of giving each one of them a plot to keep the story thrilling and on the edge of my seat.
Any additional comments?
I read this book many years ago and I continued to hunt for it until I finally found it on audible books. I am looking forward to reading "listening" to it again.
