Atlantic is a biography of a tremendous space that has been central to the ambitions of explorers, scientists, and warriors, and continues profoundly to affect our character, attitudes, and dreams. Spanning the ocean's story, from its geological origins to the age of exploration, from World War II battles to today's struggles with pollution and overfishing, Winchester's narrative is epic, intimate, and awe inspiring.

Historia
Ever since the 1918 Spanish influenza pandemic, scientists have dreamed of preventing catastrophic outbreaks of infectious disease. Yet despite a century of medical progress, viral and bacterial disasters continue to take us by surprise, inciting panic and dominating news cycles. From the Spanish flu to the 1924 outbreak of pneumonic plague in Los Angeles to the 1930 "parrot fever" pandemic, through the more recent SARS, Ebola, and Zika epidemics, the last one hundred years have been marked by a succession of unanticipated pandemic alarms.

Too many off the topic inclusions for me. Some good facts but please keep to the point (who cares who knew who or what they ate in France when people needed to be solving the problems at hand),This book cold be whittled down to 10hrs of good listening with a good editor.

not too sure if it was the story or the manner in which it was delivered. This author is so far from the prose of Cormac McCarthy I can't believe someone had the audacity to make this comparison, oh well... how hum.

HHhH: "Himmlers Hirn heisst Heydrich," or "Himmler's brain is called Heydrich." The most dangerous man in Hitler's cabinet, Reinhard Heydrich was known as the "Butcher of Prague." He was feared by all and loathed by most. With his cold Aryan features and implacable cruelty, Heydrich seemed indestructible-until two men, a Slovak and a Czech recruited by the British secret service-killed him in broad daylight on a bustling street in Prague, and thus changed the course of History.

Part human comedy and part mystery, Lies the Mushroom Pickers Told is an enthralling, masterful story about what holds a village together and what keeps people apart. When journalist Patrick Bracken returns to Gohen, the Irish village where he was born, he knows the eyes of the townspeople are on him. He has come home to investigate two deaths that happened decades earlier when he was a child, deaths that were ruled accidental.

Historia
"Dr. Livingstone, I presume?" So goes the signature introduction of New York Herald star journalist Henry Morton Stanley to renowned explorer Dr. David Livingstone, who had been missing for six years in the wilds of Africa. Into Africa ushers us into the meeting of these remarkable men. In 1866, when Livingstone journeyed into the heart of the African continent in search of the Nile's source, the land was rough, unknown to Europeans, and inhabited by man-eating tribes.

Historia
Erstwhile hot-dog-restaurant manager Adam Newman has a lot on his plate - and usually more than a bit in his drinking glass. With an ex-wife to win back, a fiancée to lose, a son to mentor, and a load of missing diamonds to locate, Adam may have finally bitten off more than he can chew.

Loved this book, great characters, story & plot
Revisado: 12-04-15
Where does Paradise Dogs rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
Top 10 to 15, will listen to it again sooner than later (least by the end of the month), all the characters are well devoloped (maybe not Keen for some reason) but in the end the end you will smile for every single one of them, except for maybe Keen?
What was one of the most memorable moments of Paradise Dogs?
Mr Walt and his IMAGENGINEERING, a new word in my lexicon, this word should be in Websters (maybe it is?). Wedding episode is also very good, keys under the flower pot discovery (huh?) they just go on and on.
Which character – as performed by David Aaron Baker – was your favorite?
Baker can do anyone, near as I can tell. His repetoire is amazing (my favorite narrator). Since Adam was the main character I guess he was my favorite but all characters were done perfectly by Baker (as usual).
If you could take any character from Paradise Dogs out to dinner, who would it be and why?
Adam of course, lets eat a hot dog. My way -- boiled, onions, relish, hot peppers, kraut, mustard w/ french fries (and catsup only on the fries) and then he can treat me to a Paradise Dog (I love chili dogs too).
Any additional comments?
Buy this book, listen and be happy at the end. Money can't buy happiness, but doing good things for other people can make you happy.
