Historia
The battle-scarred star carrier Flying Dutchman is finally on her way back to Earth, after an exceptionally successful series of missions that have once again saved the world. The ship needs a serious refit, and her exhausted crew just wants a break from constant clandestine warfare against a vicious and superior enemy. Wishes come true, right? Not for the Merry Band of Pirates.

I love this series!
Revisado: 06-17-19
As always, fantastic fun. Bishop and Skippy are hilarious, and the action is a blast. I have only two critiques. First, there is the occasional sentence with a crappy structure that pulls me out of the story (Mr. Alanson sometimes uses the same word twice in a sentence, minor but my inner thesaurus can't help automatically making suggestions of alternative words he could have used). Second, RC Bray is a great narrator but his non-American accents are a bit dodgy. I notice it most with Lt. Col. Smythe, where Bray veers from American with a slight British twang to full BBC received pronunciation to kinda London gangster. For a British Army officer, the second of those would be perfect if it was consistent. For Indian, French and Chinese characters, the accents aren't great but they're okay. Having said all that, Mr. Bray totally nails Skippy and Bishop, so let's face it I'm nitpicking here. Overall, these books are phenomenal. I'm so glad it's a full time gig for Mr. Alanson - keep living the dream! Can't wait for the next book in the Expeditionary Force series!

Historia
Thirteen hundred gates have opened to solar systems around the galaxy. But as humanity builds its interstellar empire in the alien ruins, the mysteries and threats grow deeper. In the dead systems where gates lead to stranger things than alien planets, Elvi Okoye begins a desperate search to discover the nature of a genocide that happened before the first human beings existed and to find weapons to fight a war against forces at the edge of the imaginable. But the price of that knowledge may be higher than she can pay.

Brilliant as ever!

As usual, I'm left jonesing for the next Expanse book immediately after finishing the last one. This one had a bunch of character development, some surprising, some a long time coming. Fantastic, and Jefferson Mays nails the narration as ever.

Outstanding!

As usual, Chris Wraight brings the White Scars to vivid life. You know a Heresy book is great when you want to collect a new Legion by the end of it. Not sure how long I can resist painting up an army of the Ordu thanks to Mr. Wraight's incomparable work.
