I tried, I really did - I made it about halfway through even - but this book is ridiculous. The author seems to have a fixation with misogynistic men, cookie cutter women and describing the colour of a woman's nipples. There's no substance, no character development and nothing to keep my interest. The narrator may have had little to work with but even then wasn't particularly engaging. Don't waste your time.

Wish I could have rated higher, but...

Oh my. The female narrator. She nearly killed the book for me. I hung in because York is always wonderful, and I'm very much enjoying the series as a whole, but it was a struggle. Craden made some truly... bizarre choices... when it came to voicing several characters. For example, the roommate's voice was grating, almost a growl, sounding much like a person who'd spent 50 years as a pack a day smoker. When speaking as Jesse it wasn't bad until the character had to whisper something. Then Craden sounded straight up terrifying, like a serial killer whispering in your ear all the horrible things they intend to do to you - I wish I were exaggerating. It was disturbing, to put it mildly. There's other scenarios, but those are the two major examples that made this otherwise really enjoyable book a beast to get through. If you struggle with rough or growling noises being a trigger or have auditory hypersensitivity, you might want to invest in an ebook instead. Or avoid listening with earbuds in or at a high volume.

Not what I expected

This was super hard to finish. I ended up skipping chapters because the narration was terrible and the plot thin enough to see through. Not anything like a typical book from Lauren Blakely, and definitely the worst I've heard from (mostly) otherwise excellent narrators.

Jane Eyre has been a favourite of mine since reading it in highschool. Hearing it performed by someone so talented was an absolute treat. It truly rekindled my love for Jane and Edward.

A book every woman needs to read

Karen and Georgia are no strangers to laying it all on the table for their listeners, and this beautiful and amazing memoir is no exception to that behavior. It doesn't matter if you are a murderino or not, if you've never listened to an episode of MFM or have heard them all twice. This book is one you should read. It is vulnerable, honest, hilarious, genuine, heartbreaking, and uplifting. It is beautiful. Please read it, you won't be disappointed.

What an incredible journey Billy Jensen takes you on! I spent the day finding excuses to listen, and I feel like this book is going to be one I listen to again and again.

Decent story, terrible narration

If you can get past all the mispronounced words, the shrill character voices and the bizarre awkward pauses scattered throughout, then the story itself is a decently entertaining listen. On second thought... maybe just get the ebook.

Disappointing

Mostly a rehashing of the first book in the series, told from a different person's perspective, and with very little original content. This is the first time I've ever NOT loved a Molly Harper book.
