Fine, but not as good as expected.
Revisado: 09-15-23
The basis of this book revolves around Greenblatt's "Magic Formula Investing". I wish I had known that going into it. I would have done some research on if the strategy works. The book came out over ten years ago now, so a lot has changed since then. The strategy has since been back-tested by individual research teams. Does it work? The answer seems to be "yes" for some, and "no" for others. That being said, not one person claimed to get the kind of returns this book seems to offer (30%). Most did on average, about the same as an index fund. Will it work for you? Maybe, But I'm not holding my breath on this one.

Should be called "The four narcissists"!
Revisado: 03-01-22
First off: the production was fantastic. Everyone acting was great. Sound editing was great. Writing of the adaptation was probably great (I haven't read the original version).
My issue is with the story itself. The main character isn't portrayed as such, but he is a villain. He coerces his womanizing friends to join him in terrible acts. I assumed that this is a product of the time in which the story was written. The story itself acknowledges these atrocities in the final acts.
The main antagonist is victimized throughout the book. When she fights back, she uses brains over brawn. She is persecuted worse at every turn.
This production is well done, but man is it hard to enjoy the story.

Skeptics beware. Lots of psychobabble.
Revisado: 03-08-21
I could only make it through the first chapter. I gave up when I realized it was going to be a whole book based on confirmation bias. The first chapter talks about how a researcher discovers via lie detector, that plants are connected to their caretaker. Ok... Then when he has to reproduce in a scientific setting, he can't. He rationalizes it away with silly excuses rather than admit he had fooled himself by misunderstanding how a galvanometer works. The second chapter starts with a guy employing a team to all try the experiment, and only HE could reproduce. That likely means he is the one that is mistaken in his approach. I turned it off when I realized the whole book is based on heresay and not backed by real evidence. It's sad. the book is written in an interesting prose, and the reader is fine. I am just too sceptical to be able to finish. I know other people will disagree, but it's my two cents.

Great performance, blah story.
Revisado: 05-20-19
The best part of this book is the interesting cast of characters. The performance of the reader is amazing. Each character had a unique voice and mannerisms. You always knew who was talking. Unfortunately I found the main character, Sam, to be wholly unlikable. He's as terrible, smug, and sociopathic as the rest of the lot. Up until the end, I really didn't find myself caring what happened.

Great workouts. Good for a beginner.
Revisado: 01-07-19
I went through each cycling lesson over the course of a few weeks. I found them challenging, and fun. I didn't have any issues with the audio levels, I could hear him clearly every time. The music was okay, nothing to write home about. The lessons start out fairly easy, and seem to get progressive as you go. I really enjoyed them, and look forward to trying out other Aaptiv titles.

Great information. Easy to follow.
Revisado: 02-10-18
I felt like the information was solid. It's basically common knowledge, but putting it in perspective that makes you think about it in a new light. The lessons are told in short story format, which are easy to digest, and drive the point home in a fun format. BE WARNED this book was written in a decade with a different mentality, and every now and then it says things that by today's standards are ever so slightly... kinda racist. Other than that, the stories are entertaining, and it's pretty east to be learn what they are trying to teach. The lessons are just as true for today's world as they were when they were written.
The narrator is just okay. He's not great at doing accents.

interesting from beginning to end
Revisado: 01-15-18
A "fly on the wall" account of several notable events and people in the 2017 Whitehouse. This book does a great job of explaining the cause and effect of why what happened happened. It was like listening to real life Game Of Thrones with each main character pushing and manipulating Trump for their own agenda. The author clearly has the most respect for Steve Bannon, and it shows. While the author doesn't seem to like him, it definitely leans heavily as Bannon being the most competent clown in the circus. While this book doesn't change my opinion of Trump, it opened my eyes to the way he does (or more importantly refuses to) think, and how that shaped everything over the course of 2017. It also terrifies me with the thought that Steve Bannon may himself run for office someday.

Historia
Jazz Bashara is a criminal. Well, sort of. Life on Artemis, the first and only city on the moon, is tough if you're not a rich tourist or an eccentric billionaire. So smuggling in the occasional harmless bit of contraband barely counts, right? Not when you've got debts to pay and your job as a porter barely covers the rent. Everything changes when Jazz sees the chance to commit the perfect crime, with a reward too lucrative to turn down.
