Surprising revelations
Revisado: 03-07-22
Like (perhaps) most people I was sold on the notion of pot’s harmlessness; it’s the drug of harmless slackers, not killers. Berenson’s book disabused me of that idea, and his reading of it is persuasive. Although many people use pot without harm, psychotic breaks happen, especially in those with pre-existing mental health problems, and can have horrifying results. Pot isn’t harmless for everyone, and the stronger new strains must be handled with care. Everyone with children should read this.

Historia
People ask me when I first knew I was female. Would you believe me if I told you that I don't know if I've ever known, since I don't really know what a woman is, other than a concept that exists outside me - still, I know that I have felt like one, a woman I mean, yet the only way I first knew was from males? Will you suspend prejudgment long enough to entertain the possibility that gender can be so relative?

I'm still learning about transgenderism and appreciate Zoe's effort to illuminate the issues. She sounds so sad, though; I do hope she finds things to be cheerful about.

Historia
As one of America's hottest female comedians, Lisa Lampanelli has earned critical acclaim across the country for her no-holds-barred style and ability to make people laugh at their own stereotypes and differences. Now, from the gutter-mouth comedienne who "talks like a truck driver but resembles a '50s housewife" (New York Times) comes her over-the-top, laugh-out-loud memoir, Chocolate, Please.

Closer my Lisa to thee
Revisado: 08-01-15
Lisa delivers a funny, saucy, raunchy, bitchy performance; wonderful! My only qualm was the final chapter of jokes, which were fine but went on too long; I like a story, not a bunch of nibbles. I would listen to another good story from Lisa in a snap.

Historia
Ann Coulter is back, more fearless than ever. In Adios, America she touches the third rail in American politics, attacking the immigration issue head-on and flying in the face of La Raza, the Democrats, a media determined to cover up immigrants' crimes, churches that get paid by the government for their "charity," and greedy Republican businessmen and campaign consultants - all of whom are profiting handsomely from mass immigration that's tearing the country apart.

Voice of a prophet
Revisado: 07-26-15
Ann tells it like it is and it doesn't sound good. She does a fine job reading, though I rather wish she'd follow Adam Carolla's style by adding value to the audiobook with additional rants or sidebars. It's a bit funny sometimes when she mispronounces a word. This was a fine audio experience.

Historia
In this fresh and provocative new audiobook, Mary Katharine Ham and Guy Benson, dynamic Fox News and Townhall Media duo, expose how the Left exploits fake outrage to silence their political opponents - in public, on social media, at work, and even in their own homes. End of Discussion encourages all Americans who value the open exchange of ideas to fight back against this strategic effort to make America less free, less feisty, and less fun.

The Tao of Joan
Revisado: 07-06-15
Ham and Benson give an excellent account of the many ways the outraged (mostly left, sometimes right) have attempted to suppress discussion and destroy humor in recent years. They describe some heroes who have fought back and won, and honor comedians like Joan Rivers who give the bowdlerizers a happy middle finger, or like Adam Carolla who make a living on their own terms. Their advice is sound, if not always easy to follow. Read this book for a reminder of what American values are supposed to be.

Historia
Adam rips parenthood a new one, telling it straight about what adults must do if they don't want to have to support their kids forever. Using his own crappy childhood as a cautionary tale, and touting the pitfalls of the kind of helicopter parenting so pervasive today, Daddy, Stop Talking is the only parenting book you should ever read.

Adam delivers another great book performance with advice for both parents and kids. For a guy who says he can't read, he reads pretty damn well. I can't wait for "Sonny and Natalia Discover Hormones".

Fine performance
Revisado: 01-19-15
This was a fine reading of a difficult story. Bryan's honesty about the lows as well as the highs gives it great appeal. Most of all, of course, I liked the happy ending! As I enter, at age 65, the great C Zone of life, I'll keep all his excellent tips in mind. And yes, the iPhone rocks.
