Historia
Trauma is a fact of life. Veterans and their families deal with the painful aftermath of combat; one in five Americans has been molested; one in four grew up with alcoholics; one in three couples have engaged in physical violence. Dr. Bessel van der Kolk, one of the world’s foremost experts on trauma, has spent more than three decades working with survivors. In The Body Keeps the Score, he uses recent scientific advances to show how trauma literally reshapes both body and brain, compromising sufferers’ capacities for pleasure, engagement, self-control, and trust.

A GOOD HARD read
Revisado: 08-29-24
I just finished this book. It was a hard read in that it was gut-wrenching to learn what violent and horrendous things broken people do to others and how the patterns not only repeat themselves but multiply. Nevertheless, I highly recommend it.
If we implemented the treatments in this book, we could have a healthy, restored, productive society and upcoming generations will reap the benefits of our healing, a multiplication of a different origin.

The problem with us Christians is that we're so busy wringing the last drop of fun out of what the Bible calls "joy" that we scarcely notice when God gets a kick out of something. Therefore, in the interest of sanctifying our sense of humor before we forget we have one, welcome to Pulpit Fiction: A Record of Clerical Errors and Amusing Grace, a gallery of ecclesiastical boo-boos, biblical blunders, and pastoral faux pas.

We both smiled as we listened to Dan recount the Pulpit Fiction stories. The sweet, sarcastic tones and variety of voices, accents, and sound effects made the stories come alive. I highly recommend this book.

Historia
"Who am I becoming?" That was the question nagging pastor and author John Mark Comer. Outwardly, he appeared successful. But inwardly, things weren’t pretty. So, he turned to a trusted mentor for guidance and heard these words: "Ruthlessly eliminate hurry from your life. Hurry is the great enemy of the spiritual life." It wasn’t the response he expected, but it was - and continues to be - the answer he needs. Within this audiobook, you’ll find a fascinating road map to staying emotionally healthy and spiritually alive in the chaos of the modern world.

JMC continues to speak on things I need to hear and this book definitely left it’s mark. I highly recommend the book and living like Jesus.

Not Archer's best work
Revisado: 11-16-17
Having just finished the 7 books of the Clifton Chronicles I was excited to 'meet a new family'. The characters were well developed but it seemed rushed and it also had very graphic sexual details that didn't add to the story, where his other books had some snippets of sexual content that were appropriate to the story. I decided not to continue with this series for those reasons.
