Historia
The one thing you never talk about while you’re in the Scholomance is what you’ll do when you get out. Not even the richest enclaver would tempt fate that way. But it’s all we dream about: the hideously slim chance we’ll survive to make it out the gates and improbably find ourselves with a life ahead of us, a life outside the Scholomance halls. And now the impossible dream has come true. I’m out, we’re all out. We saved everyone. So much for my great-grandmother’s prophecy of doom and destruction. Ha, only joking! Actually, it’s gone all wrong.

Historia
In Slough House, the London outpost for disgraced spies of MI5, memories are stirring, all of them bad. Catherine Standish is buying booze again, Louisa Guy is raking over the ashes of lost love, and new recruit Lech Wicinski, whose sins make him outcast even among the slow horses, is determined to discover who destroyed his career, even if he tears his life apart in the process. Meanwhile, in Regent's Park, Diana Taverner's tenure as First Desk is running into difficulties. If she's going to make the Service fit for purpose, she might have to make deals with a familiar old devil....

Love this series
Revisado: 01-12-20
I’m usually making something when listening to books and this is one of the few authors where I tend to pause what I’m doing to close my eyes and enjoy the author’s use of language. Just lovely writing and reminiscent of PD James in this way to me.

Historia
At MI5 headquarters Regent's Park, First Desk Claude Whelan is learning the rule (cover your arse) the hard way. Tasked with protecting a beleaguered prime minister, he's facing attack from all directions himself. Over at Slough House, the MI5 satellite office for outcast and demoted spies, the agents are struggling with personal problems: repressed grief, various addictions, retail paralysis, and the nagging suspicion that their newest colleague is a psychopath. Plus someone is trying to kill Roddy Ho.

Love this series
Revisado: 07-29-19
All the books in this series are enjoyable. I love all the damaged characters because really, they are all of us, trying to figure out what’s next, what’s right, what’s wrong, et seq....and we all need a version of Mister Lamb in our lives.

Historia
Ava attends London Fashion Week for the launch of the PÖ fashion line, one of the major investments she and her partners in the Three Sisters - May Ling Wong and Amanda Yee - have made during the last year. With the exponential expansion of the luxury-brand market in China, Ava and her partners are determined to see a young Chinese designer break out in Europe and North America, and they go full out in London. The show is a success, but perhaps too much of one. It attracts the attention of Dominic Ventola, the principal partner in the luxury fashion conglomerate VLG.

Great performance if it’s little slow

Narrator does great capturing Ava’s calm but it felt a little slow. I listened at 1.25 speed and it was perfect.

Historia
The Faceless Man, wanted for multiple counts of murder, fraud, and crimes against humanity, has been unmasked and is on the run. Peter Grant, Detective Constable and apprentice wizard, now plays a key role in an unprecedented joint operation to bring him to justice. But even as the unwieldy might of the Metropolitan Police bears down on its foe, Peter uncovers clues that the Faceless Man, far from being finished, is executing the final stages of a long-term plan. A plan that has its roots in London's 2,000 bloody years of history, and could literally bring the city to its knees.

Mister Aaronovitch I know you’re very busy but please write faster. Also Mister Holbrook-Smith I know you’re a very successful actor, but please never stop narrating this series.
In all seriousness, this is one of of those perfect marriages where I choose to listen to every single book. And then get angry when I can’t pace myself and start searching for future publication dates to calendar!

Historia
Often compared to both Ruth Rendell and P.D. James, Deborah Crombie is internationally acclaimed for her deftly written mysteries that combine suspense, with lyrical prose. Sharply etched characters further enrich this story of tangled relationships and dark secrets. Twelve years after their divorce, Scotland Yard Superintendent Duncan Kincaid receives a phone call from his ex-wife Victoria asking for his help.

Fantastic narration

A very literary mystery with poetry by Rupert Brook prefacing each chapter. The verse was beautifully read by the narrator. The story was also excellent and held surprises.

Historia
Detective Inspector Siobhan Clarke is feeling the heat. She's investigating the death of a senior government prosecutor, David Minton, who has friends in high places. When one of their own is killed, the powers that be want answers fast. But Clarke is puzzled: If Minton died in a robbery as everyone thinks, why is nothing missing from his home? The answer may lie not in what was taken but in what was left behind at the scene - an ominous note.

Not a huge fan of the story...performance well done
Revisado: 04-11-16
I'm pretty loyal to this series and so usually the longer the read the better as far as I'm concerned. However, even for me it felt long winded as I listened diligently to the lengthy inner musings of minor characters. At some point Isabelle and Barbara started to feel like caricatures, and Thomas as well. Even so I thought the performance was well done. Not sure about the criticisms regarding Lee's performance of women, I thought his voicing of Caroline was pretty spot on given her defects. The novel is a meditation on love and that was worth the listen.
