Historia
An orphan's life is harsh---and often short---in the island city of Camorr, built on the ruins of a mysterious alien race. But born with a quick wit and a gift for thieving, Locke Lamora has dodged both death and slavery, only to fall into the hands of an eyeless priest known as Chains---a man who is neither blind nor a priest. A con artist of extraordinary talent, Chains passes his skills on to his carefully selected "family" of orphans---a group known as the Gentlemen Bastards.

Any additional comments?
I have been listening to audio books for over 10 years.I have enjoyed most - some more than others. I enjoyed this story AND the audio rendering. This book may not be for those who are offended by colorful language and descriptions. I thoroughly enjoyed this one. The tale and its telling were outstanding. I'm just sorry I finished it and can't experience that 'first listen' again. I'd recommend this book to anyone.

Historia
After the Great War that divided the peoples, the kingdoms of men plunged into a Dark Age that lasted 500 years. To heal the lands and restore the light, the great kings decreed that magic and all that is magical, be it creature, man, or device, shall be cleansed to dust. The cleansing raged for so long that no human could recall a time without it and it is in this time that the Dark Lord Sathar returned from the dark beyond.

Also Unimpressed
Revisado: 06-17-05
I agree with fethin's review of June 7th. This is only the 2nd book I have failed to finish. I only got through about 1/4 of the book. The story may be different if you read it yourself, but I found the story to be stuttered and difficult to follow the character transitions from one to the other as the story continued. I was VERY unimpressed with the narrator. I don't see his name listed in the description. I looked for it so I could avoid it in the future. He doesn't seem to have emotion in his reading. It was almost monotone. Sometimes he would slip and I could hear some natural emotion, but that only lasted a minute or so then he'd go back to his sing-song sounding reading. I may try to listen to it again sometime in the far future (now that I have the recording), but I'll have to be pretty desperate with nothing else going at the time.

Historia
The Silvertree Stronghold is more than just the family estate of the feared and awed Silvertree dynasty, whose wizardly powers and political cunning has survived through many generations. But with their power comes a curse, a curse more terrifying than rival warlords or the mystical threats of the dreaded faceless, an inward corruption of the soul that binds one's power to a downward spiral of madness and magic.

Convolution and Doom Are Us
Revisado: 04-08-05
I'm almost finished this book. I have to admit that it is very hard to follow and when you do follow some of the story and start warming up to the character or characters - bang, they die. There's nobody to root for. Not even the bad guys. I've been listening to audio books for years and I've found very few this difficult to follow. I don't know if I can finish it. I probably will finish it, just so I can have some closure.
