The production values are incredible and why I finished it. The characters are sanctimonious and annoying. The message is sophomoric and simplistic. A thriller it was not. Science fiction it was not. But if it encourages high priced audio book productions … some good was done for humanity.

I enjoyed the At The Mountains of Madness podcast. Though not a huge Lovecraft fan I was in the mood for something dark and from another era and this hit the spot. Ben Tucker’s reading voice and style fits with the material. Excellent fun.

while the crash was dramatic, stretching the story to book length didn’t seem justified. the narrator’s relentlessly cheerful voice contrasted with the story’s darkness not in a good way
