The author got back to the basics of why I follow this series. I thought the last book was the end of this series. I was highly critical of it and hated most of it but this book was a lot of fun to listen too even with the change in narrator. if you hated the last book I would recommend giving this book a try and if you still don't like it move on. looking foward to the next book.

Why would you change readers for the last book? why all the time travel crap? So many other why's. This is the first ever book of his I've struggled to get through and ultimately disliked. I don't think I'll be continuing this series as this isn't what I signed on to read about. I wanted space ship scifi, not time jumping space opera. Sorry dude.

very few series have read or listened to that ever book is really really good. I love the bantering and the little Easter eggs that are thrown into the books dialogues. you feel like part of the crew when listening, and that is magic.

absolutely amazing story of the events and what happens. It graphicly captures the absolute horror show if the events and just how far everything slipped into madness and corruption. This isn't gothic scifi, it is gothic horror and it may actually be A.D.B's best book. It has old school rogue trader and Epic/space Marine horus heresy vibes. The scale of destruction described in this book is unimaginable and horrifying in equal measure. ADB does an amazing job conveying exactly that and the costs for both sides in all their forms.

this was by far the best horus heresy book yet. From me that says a lot because they have already had some very splended books already. The narration is splended and they really out did themselves on this one. I felt as if I was there.
