Historia
For years, rumors of the "Marsh Girl" have haunted Barkley Cove, a quiet town on the North Carolina coast. So in late 1969, when handsome Chase Andrews is found dead, the locals immediately suspect Kya Clark, the so-called Marsh Girl. But Kya is not what they say. Sensitive and intelligent, she has survived for years alone in the marsh that she calls home, finding friends in the gulls and lessons in the sand.

Historia
Douglas Petersen may be mild-mannered, but behind his reserve lies a sense of humor that seduces beautiful Connie into a second date...and eventually into marriage. Now, almost three decades later, they live more or less happily in the London suburbs with their moody seventeen year-old son, Albie. Then Connie tells him she thinks she wants a divorce. The timing couldn’t be worse. Connie has planned a month-long tour of European capitals, a chance to experience the world’s greatest works of art as a family, and she can’t bring herself to cancel. And maybe going ahead is for the best anyway? Douglas is privately convinced that this landmark trip will rekindle the romance in the marriage, and might even help him to bond with Albie. Narrated from Douglas’s endearingly honest, slyly witty, and at times achingly optimistic point of view, Us is the story of a man trying to rescue his relationship with the woman he loves, and learning how to get closer to a son who’s always felt like a stranger.

Good book, loved the narrator the most
Revisado: 05-07-17
David Haig does an incredible job of bringing David Nicholls' 'Us' to life. His ability to tell a simple yet engaging story of marriage, love, loss and family relationship dynamics has been one of my favourite audio books so far. I found myself laughing along at times and feeling for each of the characters and their personal journeys. Another great book by this author and I'm hoping we hear much more from David Haig in the future.

In this award-winning Audible Studios production, Trevor Noah tells his wild coming-of-age tale during the twilight of apartheid in South Africa. It’s a story that begins with his mother throwing him from a moving van to save him from a potentially fatal dispute with gangsters, then follows the budding comedian’s path to self-discovery through episodes both poignant and comical.

A fascinating account of Trevor's childhood growing up in South Africa
Revisado: 04-04-17
I really enjoyed listening to Trevor's story and he gave an excellent performance as the narrator. I learned a lot I didn't know previously regarding the challenges of growing up in a mixed race family in SA. I would have liked to continue on with the story and learn how he came to live in America etc. Trevor was both a brave and mischievous kid and it made for an entertaining listen.

With all of the pluck and charm of its eponymous young hero, Rachel McAdams (The Notebook, Spotlight, Midnight in Paris) delivers a spectacular reading of Montgomery's beloved bildungsroman. In moments both funny and bittersweet, McAdams' voice is imbued with the spark that has made Anne a much-loved symbol of individualism and cheer for over a century.

A classic book
Revisado: 03-29-17
Where does Anne of Green Gables rank among all the audiobooks you’ve listened to so far?
I wanted to love this classic tale more than I did. I enjoyed Rachel's performance very much but there were times I found the book to be a little annoying and I didn't finish it.
Who was your favorite character and why?
I enjoyed Anne's exuberance but also found her annoying at times.
Any additional comments?
Overall a good book but I lost interest in it unfortunately and didn't finish it. Probably not for me.

Historia
Steph Jagger had always been a force of nature. Dissatisfied with the passive, limited roles she saw for women growing up, she emulated the men in her life - chasing success, climbing the corporate ladder, ticking the boxes, playing by the rules of a masculine ideal. She was accomplished. She was living "The Dream". But it wasn't her dream. Then the universe caught her attention with a sign: Raise Restraining Device.

A good account of one woman's journey
Revisado: 03-29-17
What did you love best about Unbound?
I listened to the audiobook and it was quite an impressive feat to cover that much ground in one year of skiing. It was nice to follow the journey and see how it shaped Steph as a person.
What other book might you compare Unbound to and why?
It's kind of like Wild but with colder weather.
Which scene was your favorite?
I enjoyed hearing about her discovering who she was and how she wanted to approach her relationship with Chris during a time she was going through so much change herself and seeing how he accepted all the parts of her.
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No but I did listen to it most days. It was an interesting read.
Any additional comments?
A good account of self discovery and remarkable achievement. Not sure I fully understood why Steph needed to start again to begin with or really how she ended up achieving a re-start but it was nice to see what she discovered about herself during her challenging journey and to see her reach her skiing goals.

Meet Ove. He's a curmudgeon - the kind of man who points at people he dislikes as if they were burglars caught outside his bedroom window. He has staunch principles, strict routines, and a short fuse. People call him "the bitter neighbor from hell". But behind the cranky exterior there is a story and a sadness.

A lovely little story about a cantankerous old growler
Revisado: 01-08-17
I enjoyed this book. It was a little confusing to hear British English/ terminology with an American narrator but George Newman gave a great performance none-the-less.
This is the story of a grumpy old man who has suffered heartbreak and learns to soften over time following the sheer determination of his new and seemingly inconvenient neighbours who barge into his life.
A grumbly man with a tender heart deep down. It was a good listen. Not earth shattering in terms of the story line, but one I wanted to keep coming back to.

Historia
Bryan Cranston landed his first role at seven, when his father, a struggling actor and director, cast him in a United Way commercial. Soon Bryan was haunting the local movie theater, memorizing and reenacting favorite scenes with his older brother. Acting was clearly the boy's destiny - until one day his father disappeared. Suddenly destiny took a backseat to survival. Seeking something more stable, perhaps subconsciously trying to distance himself from his absent father, Cranston decided on a career in law enforcement.

Revisado: 12-13-16
Would you recommend this audiobook to a friend? If so, why?
Yes, I found it engaging and easy to listen to and enjoyed taking the journey through the different stages of Bryan's life.
Have you listened to any of Bryan Cranston’s other performances before? How does this one compare?
No I haven't but would like to now
Was this a book you wanted to listen to all in one sitting?
No but I did find myself sitting in my car, long after I had turned the engine off, on more than one occasion. It's definitely one you can keep listening to.
Any additional comments?
I think Bryan did a great job at his book. Very enjoyable and with some little nuggets of wisdom thrown in there also. A recommended listen.

Worth a listen/ read
Revisado: 11-09-16
Would you consider the audio edition of If You Find Me to be better than the print version?
I have not read the book, only listened to the audio book. It was nicely portrayed by the narrator.
What was one of the most memorable moments of If You Find Me?
I enjoyed the bond between the two sisters throughout.
Which scene was your favorite?
I liked the relationship that developed between Shorty and Jenessa as I could imagine how important that would be for a younger child.
Was there a moment in the book that particularly moved you?
There was a line that went something like "when love is in short supply, you remember it all the more when it comes'.
Any additional comments?
I enjoyed this book but I think more could have been done with it. It was a good story (albeit a tough one) to tell, but in some ways I felt it only really skimmed the surface of what it must have been like for the two girls to grow up in the woods in that way and then be reintroduced into society. I liked the vantage point of the book - to tell the story after being taken to safety and was glad that they really were safe (sorry for any spoilers), but I think there could have been a lot more exploration around the character of the mother and how she fell into her demise (and where she went) and more on the obvious struggles two children would have faced trying to 'go back to normal'. Maybe also more from Delaney in accepting a complete change to her own world too. Never-the-less, Emily Murdoch did a good job of telling the story and it was one I found I could keep listening to until the end. Perhaps it was just over too quickly before I felt it got going and I was hungry for more. I liked it, I would say I enjoyed it but probably didn't love it, hence 4 stars.

I liked this book and found it to be an interesting read (listen), however I did find the story a little predictable as we got further into it. I knew how the ending would go long before we reached it. Never-the-less, it was a nice book and very well narrated.

A natural storyteller and raconteur in his own right - just listen to Paddle Your Own Canoe and Gumption - actor, comedian, carpenter, and all-around manly man Nick Offerman (Parks and Recreation) brings his distinctive baritone and a fine-tuned comic versatility to Twain's writing. In a knockout performance, he doesn't so much as read Twain's words as he does rejoice in them, delighting in the hijinks of Tom - whom he lovingly refers to as a "great scam artist" and "true American hero".
