Powerful historical fiction relatable to our current age.
Revisado: 04-23-25
A powerful narrative, based in the first century Roman empire surrounding a Christian slave living in a pagan culture. I love the romance and spiritual depth woven throughout the story. The depth of characters are so refreshing and believable.
The narrator does a great job with the voices of the different characters and is a delight to hear.
I think this Mark of Lion series is amazing and relatable to our present age and culture. I have read all three books multiple times.

Historia
Ninety-year-old General Fentiman was definitely dead, but no one knew exactly when he had died—and the time of death was the determining factor in a half-million-pound inheritance. Lord Peter Wimsey would need every bit of his amazing skills to unravel the mysteries of why the General's lapel was without a red poppy on Armistice Day, how the club's telephone was fixed without a repairman, and, most puzzling of all, why the great man's knee swung freely when the rest of him was stiff with rigor mortis.

A murder mystery that kept me guessing
Revisado: 01-07-25
Written in the classic Sayers style and set in 1920s Britain, this novel is a must read in the Peter Wimsey series. Just when I thought the case was solved, everything fell apart, and I had to wait for the answer on the very last page. What a fantastic ending! This story is referenced in later novels in the series and I’m glad I picked it up. The audio version was well read and easy to understand .

First published in 1843, it tells the story of Ebenezer Scrooge, a mean and unpleasant man who dislikes people generally and Christmas especially. One Christmas Eve he is visited by the ghost of his former business partner Jacob Marley and the spirits of Christmas Past, Present and Yet to Come and given a glimpse of the many homes and lives which Scrooge has touched in his wretched life to date. After their visits, Scrooge is transformed into a kinder, gentler man.
