Historia
When a notorious lawyer, at the request of a famed composer, meticulously conceals his origins, his adoptive mother takes every measure to bury the truth. Pulling strings and enlisting influential allies—including a television icon—she constructs a carefully crafted facade to ensure he never uncovers his past. But as he grows older, cracks in the carefully constructed facade begin to show, leaving him haunted by an unsettling sense that something is being hidden from him.

The depth of emotion.
Revisado: 04-21-24
A very personal and heartfelt tale of a man's life. I lived and grew up around Rafael's story. We have known each other most of our lives and went to elementary and high school together. It was interesting learning about one of my oldest friend's life story which to am exent by extention is part of my life story too. We have had our own whacky adventures that would make an interesting tale itself. Raphael has been supportive of my own writing since I started out many moons ago and we've never fully been out of touch so we always caught up from time to time. This is a very immersive tale that weaves many prominent figures of both politics and Hollywood legends such as Michael Landon and even Frank Sinatra. Growing up in Beverly Hills is a strange and rare thing to share where you met famous people and realized they were just people struggling through life like you.

Historia
Jeff Stymeweather went to Legaland because he heard everything there was legal. He had to see it for himself as his family life was miserable and he couldn't seem to find the peace to finish his fantasy novel. At first, nothing seemed odd about the new small town but as Jeff learned more and more about the inhabitants of Legaland he discovered that everything being legal really meant that there were no laws or rather only ones that people chose to follow.

Wish it were longer but ended well. I thought it was very original and felt like a real journey.

Historia
Orwell's own experiences inspire this semi-autobiographical novel about a man living in Paris in the early 1930s without a penny. The narrator's poverty brings him into contact with strange incidents and characters, which he manages to chronicle with great sensitivity and graphic power. The latter half of the book takes the English narrator to his home city, London, where the world of poverty is different in externals only.

Good but hateful.
Revisado: 09-23-22
I really love the struggle and the humor but referring to Jews as the red headed Jew etc with no names and the violence he directs toward all Jews is unsettling. I thought he was just reflecting antisemitism but these are his feelings towards Jews, thay they are cheap, despicable and would sell their children into prostitution. Really infuriating.

Best fantasy story ever written. Gritty, gripping.

It was amazing and never had a boring moment. The 1st person narrative let's you into the mind of Corwin while learning about Amber as he does. Read it years ago and still resonates today plus I get it more.
