All pretty good I have only one complaint.
Revisado: 05-08-25
I have been waiting for 5 books for this Mamundouchey to eat dirt. While I'm all for villians. He was made to be the most insufferable and annoying character ever. Almost to the point of driving me to skip past any chapters he is in.

Historia
On a desolate beach in far northern Scotland, the winter storms have been washing up all manner of things since time began. But buried in the centre of one smaller iceberg is a shard of ancient Viking pottery telling a partial tale of a hidden mysterious island beyond the ice and mist, that was home to a great treasure and even greater horrors. Thawing in the same block of ice was a rotting flap of skin that refused to be identified but had similar skin patterns to a creature not seen for 100 million years.

Narrator = an irritating snoozefest
Revisado: 03-09-25
I couldn't make it through the whole book. Story is super slow and made worse by the narrator. Every person has the exact same voice. Read in the most monotone way. Also, this narrator seems to TRY to lisp on random words. Isn't consistent in pronunciation, either.

Jack's wife, Betty is insufferable. Other than that, it's great!
Revisado: 02-25-25
Huge fan of Abrahams and Pierce combo. They only things I didn't like are the dumb decisions. Typical "Don't go in there" kind of thing. The other thing is Jack's wife, Betty. She argues about eeeeverything. Which is fine for most things. However, she does it in the middle of high stress and volatile situations. Often making her a burden in those situations. Things like that will get you killed.

Author of the National Book Award-winning All the Pretty Horses, Cormac McCarthy is one of the most provocative American stylists to emerge in the last century. The striking novel Blood Meridian offers an unflinching narrative of the brutality that accompanied the push west on the 1850s Texas frontier.

Why so many great reviews?
Revisado: 02-23-25
I'm 8 hrs in and I just can't. Yes it has gory violence in it, but there is zero drama to accompany it. The book is read like one would read a newspaper. Even with a different narrator, it would still be beyooooond dry. And people are on here saying it's one of America's greats hahahahaha HOW?

Historia
An 11-year-old boy's violated corpse is found in a town park. Eyewitnesses and fingerprints point unmistakably to one of Flint City's most popular citizens. He is Terry Maitland, Little League coach, English teacher, husband, and father of two girls. Detective Ralph Anderson, whose son Maitland once coached, orders a quick and very public arrest. Maitland has an alibi, but Anderson and the district attorney soon add DNA evidence to go with the fingerprints and witnesses. Their case seems ironclad.

Did King invent the phrase "droning on"?
Revisado: 02-21-25
The first half was alright. A little boring and terrible police work. After the ball coach dies, it begins to just drone on and on and on and on and on and on and on....You get the idea. Narrator was just alright. Some voices were great, others were atrocious. He also tends to put inflections on random words that make them seem more important than they are. Overall??? I can't finish it and I think I'm done with King. I have tried multiple books by him and they all seem to be the same. Just droning on.

I was interested for a handful of chapters. However, the doctor becomes completely insufferable. I just can't get passed it. I want to punch a fictional character in the mouth.

Absolutely droooones on and on
Revisado: 07-29-24
The overall story is good and narrator is pretty good. However, writer feels the need to over explain and drone on about every single thing that happens. If the character is assessing another character he goes through half a chapter explaining in multiple examples of how he sees said character. And it is like that with every character, every conversation, every battle. Literally everything. For example, there is a seal doing a debrief. That debrief pretty much fills an entire chapter yet the only thing new you find out is they're in Europe, and Europe has monsters. Took 30 minutes to get through that. Due to the fact that the writer explains the main characters thoughts about every word that is said in the debrief.
